I take my time ... I COULD blow through it +dlc in about a day. Although the real fun is just exploring. Sux to the main story do side quests. I have played through way too many times and on average I take about 100 hours for a full play through and around 150-200 for a lvl 30 character.

P.S. AND I'M STILL FINDING NEW STUFF! (Have you found the roach king yet? n_n I found him on like my 7th play)
I have a challenge for you sir. A scavenger hunt. No peeking at guides either.

1. The Dog Warrens
2. The ant colony that isn't Those!, The Superhuman Gambit, Shalebridge, or the Corvega factory. No Queen.
3. Ruzka the Dancing Bear
4. Tyrannosaur Skeleton next to a skeleton of a man with a shotgun
5. General Chase's overcoat
6. Lag-Bolt, Lug-Nut's brother
7. Teddy Bears tied to the train tracks, with a gnome taking pictures
8. A Mr. Handy that recites "There Will Come Soft Rains"
9. A sniper rifle and a chair sitting on top of a high cliff, with a beautiful view of the valley below...
10. Zhu-Rhong v418 Chinese pistol

None of these are marked on the map. Half of them are DLC. Don't go insane if you can't find 5, you may not be able to. None of them are random encounters, as that would just be evil.

EDIT: You did find Rockopolis, right?

Pretty much if you have taken that much time to even set your attention to the main quest (and you are enjoying the game) then you are playing the game right.

Oh wow, I don't even remember how long it took... but my first character, I've probably logged at least 30 hours, and I've finished the main quest, 3 of the DLC's, and gotten a platinum trophy... so there's that.

According to Steam I've clocked 35ish hours on there and I've only just met Three-Dog.
I like to go explore stuff but I stopped playing F3 cause there was TOO MUCH to explore. I hate to quote Yahtzee here but the subways were just too much copy paste to handle.

Well how far are you? The main quest was pretty short for me, I finished it well before then...
Yeah its about the only off-setting thing of F3 the main story is over so quick, if you happened to NOT pick up DLC, then your SOL once you do. even with the revival you get from the DLC, it still feels like you should have done alot of that stuff before you went into the chamber.

I maintain that I've not completed it until I've seen absolutely everything it has to offer.
So I'm currently sitting at infinity hours.

Nah. About 300 hours, give or take. I made sure.

The main quest took a while, only because i was sidetracked often while traversing the wastes.

It took me quite a while as I got caught up exploring, wandering about aimlessly and doing side quests. My total play-time with main story, all but 1 side quest and 3 DLCs completed is roughly 85 hours.

My friend did the main story and little of the side missions etc and had it all pretty wrapped in 20-30ish hours I think.

The main quest is pathetically short. I don't know how long it would have taken me though, since I was exploring and everything. I'm guessing it took about 5 hours of gameplay to finish the main quest... But it's been a long time since I did it. I don't have the DLC, so I can't help you there.

I never bought Mothership Zeta or The Pitt, but I did get Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage, and Point Lookout. I think the end time of my first game was around 140 hours, so I think it was worth it. However I did finish the game before I started getting any DLC, and at that point I was a little over 90 hours, so it was still worth it. I spent copious amounts of time wandering around doing nothing.

I currently have 68 hours on my main on the PS3, with every possible achievement except the "hack 50 terminals" one. At some point, I'm going to go back and fully explore the ruins of DC (and maybe everything else).

I also have to at least get to level 30 with an evil and neutral charatcer for the Platinum. I feel wierd not having it for the game I've played most out of any game I own (except City of Heroes and World of Warcraft)...

Took me 74 odd hours, because I wanted to (A) Hit Lvl 20 first, cause I knew, pre DLC, it'd end there, (B) Finish all sidequests, and (C) Fuck about for fun, all before beating the game.
It'd have taken me 15-25 Hours if I'd have just gone into the Rotunda.

70-ish hours. I didn't go into a place unless it had a bobblehead or was quest related.

So, I never went far into Vault Tec HQ or Nuka Cola place.
