I started learning Guitar and Piano about 6 months ago, and I'm going to keep at it with those instruments, but im interested picking up another instrument, preferably wind but I want to learn something that is naturally played in the Key of G or C *I should know this but i forgot what guitar and piano are played in*. What other instruments are played in the that key?

Well I know from personal experience that Saxophone mirrors in its key layouts most traditional instruments and is perhaps one of the easiest to get into.

I would say avoid the clarinet based woodwinds because their fingerings always seemed counter intuitive to me.

The world needs more bassoonists.

Also don't listen to the other guy. Clarinet's a fine instrument too and makes just as much sense as sax. When I was in middle school they wouldn't even let you play sax unless you had experience on clarinet.

Hmmmmm . . . . as far as I know, the flute in the key of C . . . . but as a word of advice, as soon as you stop enjoying an instrument, ditch it. The only reason anybody plays music is because they enjoy it.

What the hell do you mean "naturally played in G or C"? Like, its lowest note? That isn't any terminology I've ever heard...

As for learning a new instrument, just pick one up and start learning. Flute or Alto Sax are good starting points. If you end up not liking the instrument, move to a different one.

This handy guide should help you determine what's what. Most stringed instruments are a pretty safe bet.

Musicians who don't know what the hell the OP is talking about may also wish to click that link, it explains the concept better than I can.

Alto Saxophone is C, I'm not sure about G maybe Clarinet.
Alto sax is E flat, Tenor is B flat, clarinet is B flat. You can get E flat clarinets too, they're a bit smaller.

OP: How about a brass instrument like the trumpet (B flat again) or the trombone (C)?
