Is Planet Side 2 easier to run on a bad PC compared to Tribes Ascend?
...if this is a silly question feel free to tell me, but I remember trying to play Tribes about a year ago, and it ran like at a Snail's pace (probably slower), Slightly better luck with Hawken, but not enough to try and play it regularly...

Planeside 2 is a system crippler.

So...no. I'd avoid Planetside 2 unless you have a relatively up to date machine. Say, no older than 2-3 years old.

Depends on your machine.

If you have a low to mid range PC don't even attempt to run it at anything but low (maybe mid if you get lucky) settings.

It's not graphically intensive but does beat the CPU to death with a brick ... then kick it for good measure. It's not very well optimised. I've heard of people with high end machines getting the odd issue.

I got frame drops like crazy some times, I5 2500 and a HD 6870,card is a little bit old but damn.. I was running 80+ fps and then suddenly dropping to 30 without any major action on screen..

My brother had it even worse, i5 3570 and a gtx 650, He was stuck at 50fps most of the time

Ya this is way more intense then Tribes, you might be ok in a completely empty area with everything turned to minimum but the game is all about large battles so that would be pointless.

So; stay away from it unless I get a better machine, got it.
Thanks for answering~
To be perfectly honest it's not all about the machine.

As I said, it's not been optimised well and completely smashes the CPU.

Machines that run other games perfectly well on mid to high settings are having issues with this game. Hopefully they get around to tweaking it a bit because it is a pretty good game if you can find a group of folk to run with.

From what I've seen it's CPU intensive but some CPUs handle it better than others. I've seen people with top-of-the-line hardware getting 20fps, but my i5-2500k runs it at a pretty consistent 40
