I was thinking about it for a little while, you know how they say grunt is a "Pure" Krogan, no DNA from another race or anything. Does that mean Krogan can mate with other alien races too? its kinda bugging me and that Krogan Warlord just use circler logic and im glad hes dead for being so stupid.
No. He was given all dominant Krogan genes from past warlords, and has had the genophage mutation genetically removed from him.
but both the warlord and EDI say he still hads the genophage

Guys, enough with the Mass effect 2 threads. You are focussing on a really obscure part of a game and you aren't even using any spoiler tags. I haven't beaten the game yet, but you fanboys are really making it hard to play.
No body is making you click on these trends.
There are currently 3 of these on the hot topics board. Its not even interesting discussion, its just asking about something that doesn't matter at all, not even in the game.

If it's gonna be interesting, than I may respond. Overthinking something doesn't make a good topic.
Wait... people are posting topics about games they love and question they have about those games on gaming forum that is dedicated to providing the viewers a way to talk to like minded individuals about their passion for games?

at least its better then any shit in the off topic section. What is wrong with a gaming topic in a gaming forum?

So play the game instead of reading threads about it on the forums?

I guarantee you there will be no spoilers in game.

First of all, Krogan CAN'T produce offspring with another race. No race in the Mass Effect universe can reproduce with a different species, except the Asari.

The only exception are the Asari who can reproduce with anyone, but the child has Asari genes while the father's influence recombines the genetic material to produce variety and the passes on some of his mental and personality traits. That way, it's not really "crossbreeding".

As for Grunt's "purity", it's probably simmilar to how Nazis thought Aryans were "pure" (or how any Supremacy group considers its members pure). Granted, Grunt is better than most since Okeer engineered him with the best traits from the greatest Krogan Warlords. In fact, aside from being a bit crazy, Okeer had a pretty good basic idea on how to help the Krogan (quality over quantity).

i think it means that he isnt affected by the genophage making him genetically perfect
"Except for the traces of genophage found in all Krogan"

I believe that was about what the game or EDI said.
You know he was grown in a tank, not born like all other krogans are born, he was also given the cells of only the great leaders of the krogan and all of them were likely before the genophage so its still a possibilty that he has no genophage
First of all, the genophage was released like a thousand years before Mass Effect 2.

Secondly, the game very clearly states he has genophage. The whole point Okeer was trying to make was that they shouldn't give a damn about the genophage.
First of all your wrong the genophage was not released thousands of years before the game, Mordin Solus was one of the scientists who worked on it and his species dies at the age of 40 so your wrong there, and i never once on the game ever heard anyone specifically state "grunt like all krogans has the genophage"

If you think about it (any other Biologist out there?) the Genophage isn't a great idea at all.

1/1000 births are faulty.
High Krogan birth rate.

That means if one of those 1/1000 is a Genophage resistant mutant (which is... going to happen eventually)then there would be no competition for that mutant to spread it's genes like wildfire. That huge death rate combined with their huge reproduction rate puts ALOT of selective pressure on genophage resistant Krogans.

It's essentially like the efforts to kill off rabits in Australia with an ebola like virus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbits_in_Australia

They introduced the virus, rabbit population went from 600 million --> 100 million.
Then, evolution happens.
Then, 40 years later, population is back up to 300 million.

Yes it was. Mordin never made the genophage, but modified it when the Krogan began to show signs of adapting to it.

Also, the game does state clearly and at least twice that Grunt has genophage. Don't make me look for a video on Youtube for that. The age of genophage is easy to check on the codex though.
Go ahead and come back tell me what you found, because it's really tiresome to argue with someone who didn't pay enough attention to even know what he's talking about. No offense, but it is.

Thats why i avoided the internet untill i completed the game fully lol
But yeah, obscure question, they should be able to. Because i remeber that mission where
You talk that Asari girl into going out with the Krogan. The Krogan wanted kids. Although, i remeber her saying their child with be an Asari also.

Sorry, but you are completely wrong. Mordin modified the genophage to make once again dominant over the krogan. They were adapting to it. EDI specifically states that he has the genophage markers found in all krogan. As does Dr Okeer.
The original genophage was created to stop the krogan after the Rachni wars which happened long before humanity entered the galactic stage.
And by pure krogan, they mean that he is bred from the strongest genes of the warlords. He has no physical imperfections aside from the genophage. He is just stronger, faster, more aggressive etc than other krogans

No body is making you click on these trends.
There are currently 3 of these on the hot topics board. Its not even interesting discussion, its just asking about something that doesn't matter at all, not even in the game.

If it's gonna be interesting, than I may respond. Overthinking something doesn't make a good topic.
the little things matter to me, and yes, it is in the game.
I meant it doesn't matter in the game.
If it is garnering attention and discussion related to video games then it is a valid topic. Plus... why make him use Bioware social forums... the people there are annoying/whinny/weirdos.

Wait... I thought that the genophage-mutated chromosome was only carried by females; to my knowledge, it doesn't affect the fertility of male Krogan, only females.

That's why fertile females are incredibly valuable to the Krogan, as only 1/1000 of them are fertile, with the other 999/1000 only able to birth stillborns.
