A quick Skyrim question

Hi guys, just got a quick question about Skyrim this evening.

I was in a mine earlier, and decided to make use of all the ore veins scattered around. Now as I'm sure you're all aware, mining ore is pretty damn dull after a while, so I decided I would try and be clever.

I gave my companion a pickaxe and ordered them to get to work at mining the ore, to reduce the time it would take. However, when she moved close to the ore, she just flat out refused to do anything; "Can't do that, sorry..." despite their being a command on my reticule "mine ore vein".

Am I missing something here?

Sorry to bother you with something so trivial.

Cheers, chaps!

You know I never thought of trying that, your a clever one.

Theres a good chance it just wont work, since when ive watched npc miners mine stuff, they dont actually mine the ore, they just do the animation.

Yeah, I'm also shocked that you can't get them a horse and tell them to mount up. Seems like they intended companions to be able to do anything with instruction, but forgot about it and just shipped it as it is.

I think putting these two comments together provides us with an answer, actually.
The possiblity was there, they just didn't implement the commands.
Kind of annoying, seeing as the actual option to order them to do something contextually detects "Mine Ore" or "Mount Horse", yet they just stand there like a lemon doing nothing.

Ah well, maybe in Elder Scrolls VI: Valenwood or something... :p

And thanks for the comliment, Fieldy. ;)

If you play it on PC, surf the mods and see if maybe someone came up with a fix for you.

There is a way to speed the mining up. Dual wield pickaxes and attack the ore vein
You are my new favourite person.

Is it bad that I actually just tried that?! >.<
Still - kudos. :p
