*the motto of the RAF*
That's the SAS mate, but besides that it is a great motto.

I quite like this though...

"When you climb to the top of a mountain, you may look down on the other people and think they are small, but don't forget, you look small to them too." - Jeff Knowles (a teacher of mine)
Not only the SAS but quite a few special forces units, but I think the British SAS was the first to use it.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
My mother told me this from the moment I was old enough to understand her.

"You can't judge a book by it's cover."
I very much take this to heart, I wish the rest of the world would too.

"You can't have everything, where would you put it?"
- Steven Wright

"My God's better than your God."
I don't remember where I heard it and I'm not a religious person, I just keep it as a reminder how much needless hate and conflict can come from fanatical/overzealous religious beliefs. Loving your religion is a good thing, just don't kill anyone over it.

"The best way to prepare for life is to begin to live."- Elbert Hubbard

"The boundaries which divide life from death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where one ends, and the other begins?"- Edgar Allen Poe

"Life is a rich strain of music, suggesting a realm too fair to be."- George William Curtis

"One life - a little gleam of time between two eternities."- Thomas Carlyle

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."- George S. Patton

EDIT:// And one more. It's a game quote but it rings very true in my mind.

"Nothing is true. Everything is permitted."- Assassin's Creed

These few quotes were commonly used by a well known mathematic genuis/alien abductee (I am not lying) from my old high school. He was only slightly crazy, he was elderly and he could outrun many of the students in high school doing cross country.

Don't admit defeat, the only one who can defeat you is yourself.

Free speech is not a continuous obligation.

This is not a mission impossible, this is a mission possible, you won't self-destruct in thirty seconds.

Maths is like eating, do it with your mouth closed.

This is meant to be a mathematical health farm, not a mathematical intensive care ward.

If you're smart enough to find the room and don't own a mobile, you can pass Maths B.

It's the end of the lesson, commence your closing ceremonies.

Be quiet, you little soccer fans.

Oh, to be a happy idiot.

Some are not quotes that I live by, but they have definately inspired me. :)

I have a couple I keep close to my heart.

"If you're in a fair fight, your tactics suck."

"Enemies you threaten make armies. Enemies you kill make graves."
I don't get it...
both of them.

One I'm particularly fond of is:
"
Dance like no one is watching, love like you'll never be hurt,
sing like no one is listening, and live like it's heaven on earth."

I'm not particularly sure who it originates from -the world seems very undecided.
It's from Mark Twain, my favourite author =)

?Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.?

also -Mark Twain

Oh, why, fancy seeing you here.

OT: I usually don't need quotes to guide me in life. I live on my own rules, my own set of morals. I don't look to a higher being for moral guidance, but from within myself. There are a few things I have come up with on my own.

"We are not only here to enjoy what those who came before have given to us, but to also create for the future. For all eternity, this cycle will continue."

"There is only one sacrifice that you should never make, to sacrifice your own morality. Guard it with your life. If you die, you die with honor."

Serious: If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly. After all, you got nothing to lose. ~ Unknown to me.

Less Serious but still valid: If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it. ~Albert Einstein

Totally not serious: Essentially, anything can be destroyed if you hit it hard enough. ANYTHING. ~ Sam Hughes
