Really? How high are your taxes, how corrupt is the political system, how cold is it, and how many jobs are available?

Are you attempting to suggest Holland is a poor or non-educated country? If not, I'm sorry, but your a poor comedian or just poor at asking something nicely.
Maybe you'd know more if you'd look at the location where we are...... Next to Germany and between the north sea dividing us from England. So we have decent temperatures, lately around 15-16 degrees. And actually our unemployment rate was one of the lowest of the rest of the EU. Our government is not corrupt, this probably shows your basic ignorance of being an american, and thus most likely not even caring about Europe...( not offencse, but the americans I met have a poor knowledge of europe :S.) So I hope I have enlightened you, and I suggest you ask things more nicely next time

Your first mistake was watching a Nicholas Cage movie.

I always go on rants after I watch one of his movies, you should have heard me after Ghost Rider.

I liked The Rock. Sean Connery and Nick Cage were gold in that movie...=(

I never had interest in this movie or ghost rider. I usually try to stay away from action movies nowadays. It seems they are going further downhill. I miss the old Die Hard days...

true that i am a christian and there are like really only 2 christian movies that Ive ever liked (facing the giants & fireproof) but at the same time i agree with you that Christianity should not be shoved down peoples throats. as a christian im "supposed" to spread the word but im not that type of person. i hate subtle subliminal messages in movies too, especially the ones about "being green" ugh. As far as the movie goes i knew (heh get it?) it was gonna be a crap movie, just as disappointing as the "number 23" movie. man that ending pissed me off lol

I actually really enjoyed the movie. I think to properly enjoy it, you have to willingly suspend disbelief and have an open mind when going into it. The whole God/Alien twist in the end didn't upset me like it did for most other people, including my friend who saw it with me. I think I saw it differently than most people though.

For me, I took it to mean that they were aliens at the end of the movie, not angels or Gods or what have you. I say this because humanity has a tendency to explain things that can't be explained scientifically at the time with the notion of Gods or angels. It is very easy to explain something away by saying "God did it".(Note: God is also interchangible with a Wizard, so as to say "A Wizard did it.")

So to me, humanity got it wrong in regards to Angels and Gods and mistakenly took an advanced alien species to be the former because they didn't understand what was happening. I don't really think the end of the movie gives off the whole "Repent or burn in hell" message. I see it as everyone knowing their time is about to end, and wanting to reconcile all their personal problems with other people, because in the grand scheme of things, it never really mattered.

At least that's how I took it, and I came out of the movie having enjoyed it.

This is exactly how I felt, actually, and I really enjoyed it too. My only real issues were that (1) Nicolas Cage's histrionics tend to suck all the enjoyment out of the movies he's in, and (2) the ending was unnecessary--it just felt like gilding the lilly for no reason. But otherwise, I liked it a lot, and I plan to get it on DVD when it comes out.
