Huzzah, 'tis complete. Sounds a wee bit like Gothic. I do enjoy seeing the GTA sandbox model applied to genres besides urban crime epic.

By that definition my dishwasher and coffee maker are consoles.

EDIT: And I believe Windows is a graphics-based general user interface, not a gaming platform.
Only the display and buttons. :D

Windows is an operating system these days, not a GUI. Doesn't run over DOS anymore.
Where does the coffee machine begin and the computer end? I can't tell.

And true that, forgot DOS got buried a long time ago. So, windows is an OS. Still not merely a gaming platform.

And what of Linux? 'PC' seems to assume Windows, but there are Linux and Mac gamers as well...

Linux and Mac should be considered different gaming platforms, but they all currently run on the same hardware.

At this point it is quite clear to me we are operating on entirely different definitions for our words.

My pocket calculator runs on the same hardware: Power supply, RAM memory, central processor, motherboard, harddrive, display, controlling device. Incidentally, same parts can be found from my coffee maker.

Surely you are not suggesting that merely because they run on the same hardware, they are all consoles? In theory I could run a game or two on their current user interfaces, surely you are not suggesting those interfaces are 'gaming platforms'? I contend that it is the primary intended function along with whatever GUI or OS you are using in combination with the hardware, that defines what is a console.

If we're going to use made-up definitions, why don't we just say - for simplicity - that whatever platform plays games can be considered a gaming "console"? :p

Done - didn't like the pitch to be honest - as previously stated it reminded me of Oblivion, but worse than that it just sounded bland and unintresting.

Done - I always swore never to leave assignments until the last minute, my last final I had to do two assignments the day before AND revise for the exam lol

Nice one :)

But that's kind of my point. A computer is not necessarily a console, consoles are a subgroup of computers. To call all computers consoles is to deliberately remove relevant information and to subtly redefine a term.

That's exactly what you'd say if he was.

And everyone would've complained if I put the whole synopsis on there.

Thanks guys and girls for doing it :) Been a great help so far.
