NAME: Currently unnamed (previously "*****-Breath")
AGE: Four
GENDER: Male
RACE: Standard German Shepherd with no obvious mutations
APPEARANCE: Larger than most German shepherds, standing at 28 inches tall and proportionally long. Tan fur with large black spot on the back. Both ears are ever-perked up, but there's a divot in the right one. Bright brown eyes and long tongue lolling out of his mouth. One hundred and twenty six pounds.
PERSONALITY: Ludicrously intelligent for a dog. He understands nearly any simple command you can give him, he is able to understand many simple adjectives, fetch useful items (complete with a working knowledge of what is "useful") and run simple scouting trips, coming up with the least dangerous route past bandits and animal nests. This is possibly a mutation.
He is also has mild kleptomaniac tendencies (if not doing something for a master, he'll wander around looking for shiny things or good smells) and deals badly with physical abuse towards himself or his master. He makes a very passable watchdog, but mostly shines as a fast, unnoticed scout.
He dislikes being alone, and gets quite upset if he finishes fetching items and comes back to an empty camp.
WEAPONS: Normally limited to teeth set in a powerful jaw and not-very-well-kept claws, but he HAS figured out how to set off any gun lying on the ground - and which end to avoid when he does. Assuming the safety's off, anyways. Try not to let him too close to a fat-man during a fight, especially if it's shiny.
ITEMS: A simple pack strapped to a simple harness. The pack is situated directly on top of him. It currently holds three bottles of dirty water and six tins of canned food and a note, placed there by his previous owner, totaling four pounds of weight. The pack is not huge, and can carry the size equivalent of twelve water bottles. He can carry forty-five pounds before he'll sit down and refuse to move. At fifty-five pounds, he shows signs of physical pain. Since he cannot use the pack himself, it's recommended you take the pack off before sending him off fetching things. He can carry up to ten pounds of items in his mouth, but only one or two different items at a time.
PERKS/TRAITS/SKILLS: Child at Heart - Loves kids, and will defend them more aggressively. He isn't naturally attached to them, though, and can leave a child crying and alone if his master calls him.
Rad Resistant - Inexplicably, he seems to shrug off ludicrous amounts of radiation. If he takes enough, he will still get sick and die, but he takes much more to get there. It's one reason he's still relatively unmutated.
Good Natured - In his spare time, he'll want to play and eat, and not much else. He won't jump at the chance to fight, but he will if threatened. This makes him rather bad at locating backstabbers - he wants to bring them into the pack, even if he knows there's something wrong.
TRANSPORTATION: Foot, as well as any vehicles that his master will allow him into.
OTHER: The note in his pack reads:
Dear whoever finds this dog:
I'm dying of radiation exposure. Please take care of my baby. He's brilliant and will be able to help you out immeasurably. Take the water and food as a dowry of sor
Then it trails off. The dying man must have felt his death throes, and then shoved the incomplete note into the pack before dying.
Am I on the right track? Not "fun" enough? Just a bad idea overall?
I'll be back in a couple of hours, so don't worry if I don't respond.
