Goodbye Norma Jean, though I never knew you at all.

I don't know where you are now, but I'm sure you are happy there. Glorious Fallen, I salut thee.

I know I'm a few days late to this, but none the less I'd love to pay my respects to her; its horrible losing a friend, especially in this manner. It is heartening to see though, how many people did feel her presence on and off the site. Regardless of faith, belief or religion, whatever you want to call it, I'm sure we can all agree that she is at peace now and that she will always remain in the hearts of those that loved her. It is with deepest regrets that it must be said, but I'm sorry for your loss and hope that through each person who wishes you all well and through talking with others, or whatever way you cope, that you can get through this. Remember her for who she was and not how she died.

My most sincere condolences for her passing. As I did not know her very well, or even at all, a human life here has been lost, and that is depressing. I hope she lived the fullest life she could have lived in her short time here.

A quote from Doctor Seuss (I believe), "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

...that is a rather ironic last post.

My condolences...I can only imagine how you feel, losing someone like that. Not to mention the 'everything's going to be fine' the doctors must have said just before she passed. That's terribly tragic...again, I'm sorry for your loss.

Well let's see.. Half your age plus seven.

I'm eighteen. Half that is nine. Plus seven is 16.

Nah, I wouldn't date a 16 year old. Most 16 year old boys I know are incredibly immature. And they are pimply and still haven't finished growing. Nah.
Maybe you'd go for a 19 eh? http://www.mobiles24.com/static/previews/downloads/default/151/P-335698-xbkQBeRPqe-1.jpg

On a less creepy subject, anything 16 and under kinda gets weird for me. Not on a sexual level, it's just the way most girls behave at that age. So pretty much what you just said there.
Haha! Smooth :/.
It's crazy how things play out............

I do not believe I ever encountered Kortney on these forums, which is something I find quite unfortunate, as she sounded like a wonderful person in every sense of the word. Rest in peace, Kortney.

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing someone's never easy, and I'm not here enough to really say I knew the girl, but for what it's worth you've got my condolences

It's a damn shame when the world loses someone who, looking at the outpouring of this thread, have touched so many lives without getting to even see 21. I can only give my condolences to her family and friends, and I hope where-ever she is now, it's everything she could ask for.

I can't say I ever saw her post, I suppose we must have run in different circles.

My deepest sympathies to those whom she's left behind, it's these people with whom our hearts should rest.

I can't honestly say that I knew Kortney personally, but the name does ring a bell. To lose someone before their time, especially in such a tragic way, is never easy. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Oh dude, I'm sure I remember talking to her one time. Some other thread.

That really hits home, even though I didn't know her all that well. Well, for what it's worth, her family and friends have my condolences...

Tragic. Life is far too fragile. Rest in peace.

It is with a heavy heart I bring this news to everyone here. Our fellow escapist, and my dear friend, Kortney, passed away a few days ago. Guess I jumped the gun with my thread to wish her well. I definitely feel much worse about it now.

(Her user profile if above link isn't working: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Kortney )

She was the victim of a car accident; she was in the passenger seat when someone ran a stop sign and hit the side of the car head on. At first she was just unconscious and had two broken legs. That's still quite bad yes, but at first things were looking fine. Evidently there was some serious head trauma that escaped the first glance of doctors, and on May 10th things got much worse, to the point where she eventually had three brain aneurysms. The third one did her in.

I know not everyone here knew Kortney well, or at all even. The escapist is quite the large community, as I have come to realize. But I am sure there are some regulars out there who remember her posts. She was always an avid poster in the R&P forums, probably pissing off just as many people as she made friends with! But her attitude was always amazing, both here and in real life. She had a damn big heart, and Kortney was always an amazing friend to both myself and all she crossed paths with.

Earlier someone had pointed out how it would be terribly ironic that her last post was in a thread entitled "Regrets", wherein she said she wish she had once chance to say goodbye to so many of her friends that had drifted apart from her. Well Kortney, now I think all those friends only wish they could have said goodbye to you. I know you always said that you did not fear your own death; and I know you greeted such an unfair end with a smile still. Your charm and your big heart are impossible for anyone to match in my books. Be at peace now though, Kortney, and know that I will never forget you. And maybe one day we will meet again, and if we do I will still take you out to dinner, as I had promised.

Excuse the rant everyone, but there you have it. I know she had some other good friends on here, if there is anything they would like to know more, you may PM me. But I wish to honor her memory in some way here, I guess a thread is a good place to start, however horribly bland that is in the long run.

[Mod edit: Temporarily stickied so people can pay their respects.]
It was always a delight to read one of Kortney's posts. I can only offer my empathy, and I hope she is at peace. She will be missed.

I can't give her the twenty-one guns, but I'd be happy to discharge a few rounds in her memory. Semper Fidelis!

I only joined yesterday and the first thread I read, is this. I am touched that someone was so considerate to let everyone here know of the tragedy that took place. The OP was beautifully written and I'm saddened by it.

Thus, my first post here is to wish you strength. I am truly sorry for your loss and let the memory of her help you through this hard time.
