When Cain beat Abel to death it was out of jealousy. Lesser men find that if you face a problem, the only way to solution to said problem is removal; and not compromise.
But why do they feel that? Get to the root of the question. Get deeper. Dig deeper. Whatever.
it was jelousy he had somthing he wanted so much that removing his brothers excistance was in his mind worth the trade it really isn't as complicated as you think it is.

Small prefrontal lobes, large adrenal glands. This is what the species is...impulsive, neurotic, aggressive, and our capacity for reason isn't what we claim it is.

The fact that we think that there is something wrong with surrendering ourselves to our base instincts is wonderful in my view, we want to be better(or "better")...marvelous. With that said, that doesn't excuse people forming an ideal and then becoming indignant when it doesn't line up with reality, there's really no reason that it should. You have to ignore all of the physical and observable evidence in the world to maintain your own self-righteous fiction.

It's a huge and really very obvious logical fallacy...but it's seldom addressed and seldom understood.

Aggression is common to just about all animals.

It's easier to steal resources from your comrades then to obtain the resources yourself.

Vengeance, jealousy, avarice, convenience, delusion, power etc. It could be anything, it's all dependant on context and the type of person in question.
