They should just refuse to serve this guy altogether. I'm sure they get enough business off other customers that are actually worth their time.
xD That might be the funniest/greatest out of court settlement deal I've ever heard of.The7Sins said:Actually that happened a long while back as well. My stepdad about 15 years (1986) before marrying my mom got kicked out of an all you can eat Chinese buffet for eating to much. Well he got his lawyer and threatened to sue if they didn't give him free food from there for 3 years. The restaurant owners gave into his demands so as to avoid a long drawn out court case that they figured would cost more than his big eating.RJ 17 said:Remember wwwaaaayyy back when the Simpsons were actually still good? It's a long way back, I know, might need to dust off your diaries and journals and/or invent a time machine, but I swear they used to be worth watching.
Anyways, there was one episode in which Homer sues an All You Can Eat seafood restaurant for false advertisement because they kicked him out before he had all he could eat.
Well apparently that exact same situation (minus the lawsuit, I believe) has officially occurred:

Captcha: "Easy As Cake". I don't know about you, but making cake isn't always easy. Well I take that back, making cake is easy, making GOOD cake isn't.![]()
You do know there's not some almighty arbiter when it comes to how much something is worth, right? There's no authority that goes "Right, this fish is worth $2.25, if someone has paid $9, then they have paid for 4 fish, no more, no less."Auron225 said:What a horrible restaurant - this guy is right: every man, woman and child should be allowed to walk in there and eat OVER TWENTY pieces of fish -.-' Its only good business to let every customer eat more than what they paid for. Is he trying to claim this is a common issue that most consumers have to deal with??
How about when the restaurant runs out of fish? That sounds like a great time for him to stop demanding fish - y'know, when its completely impossible to give him anymore. Or when the stupid amount of fish he has eaten is going to stop his heart? Or when that species of fish are going extinct? Or the restaurant owners are going to go out of business? All sound like great reasons for him to say "Keep the change". He is claiming that he has been ripped off and should have gotten more food from this situation, and seems to think this happens to everyone. He claims that "someone has to stand up for consumers" - no, he's only standing up for himself. The fact that its declared news is a pretty big hint this doesn't happen often. I can't understand how someone can be so greedy - I just can't.Maze1125 said:You do know there's not some almighty arbiter when it comes to how much something is worth, right? In fact, as it turns out, prices are set purely by the people involved in the transaction.
If it's an all you can eat restaurant. And you've paid for all you can eat, then the amount you've paid for is all you can eat. Why exactly should the restaurant be able to say "Actually I know we said that it was all you can eat, but you can obviously eat too much, so we not going to let to eat any more, even though you paid to be able to eat all that you can."?
If he can eat that much before closing time, then it's restaurant's fault for failing to account for someone of his eating abilities. Although I really doubt any of those things would come to pass before his appetite was sated, bar running out of fish themselves, and that their own fault for not being prepared.Auron225 said:How about when the restaurant runs out of fish? So your argument is based on the fact you don't like the guy? That's not a very good stance. I don't like the guy either, but that doesn't change the fact that they advertised their restaurant as "all you can eat".All sound like great reasons for him to say "Keep the change". I admit the restaurant are to blame for not being completely stocked but its no use throwing a fit and calling them all failures if they dont have any more fish. There is nothing that can be done. Was he still hungry after 20 fish? If so then yes, shame on the restaurant but I really doubt thats the case - in which case its pure greed.Maze1125 said:If he can eat that much before closing time, then it's restaurant's fault for failing to account for someone of his eating abilities. If he paid for "all you can eat", why exactly shouldn't get what he paid for?
If they ran out of food before that happened, then they can simply give him his money back.
If I order a complete meal at a restaurant, and after I've finished the starter, they tell me they've run out of food for the main, I'm entitled to my money back.
Pretty much - I agree that it normally holds no weight in anything but I honestly don't see the problem here. People are starving in the world and I'm meant to feel sorry for this "victim" who didn't get his promised infinitely many fish?Maze1125 said:So your argument is based on the fact you don't like the guy? If they don't like the repercussions of having such a restaurant, then they should just have a normal "each portion is this amount" restaurant.
Yep, they do it, you have no idea how confused I was the first time it happened, though it doesn't really happen too often as I have only seen it happen 2 times, but the other guys were like "AGAIN?! Ugh.." so yeah, that's a thing.Saltyk said:I think something is wrong when you get kicked out of "all you can eat". And it's not wrong with the restaurant. I've eaten two pounds of shrimp and the people were plenty happy to give me more, if I asked.
Wait. People actually do that? I've never heard of that happening. I never even heard of it as a joke.Kaleion said:Really? As the person who gets to throw out of the restaurant and clean up after people who do this, I hate you, please don't suggest that it's so disgusting, and the nerve they have saying "But it's all you can eat" Yes, yes it is, therefore if you have to vomit to keep eating you've already had all you can eat and therefore you can get out of here, eh sorry I just really hate it when people do that.TheIronRuler said:He's a moron:

He wanted it TO GO, not there. Damn, the nerve people have. I just throw up in the bathroom and eat some more. Roman etiquette and table manners away!
