My character was caught banging a female Thalmor Soldier's corpse. Needless to say, the Aldmeri Dominion wanted me dead (which explains the Thalmor present in Helgen).

Such a shame that the Dragonborn is such a sicko.

My female (dark-skinned red-haired) Breton Tamlina Moss-Rock was on her way into the the Province of Skyrim from a moderately well-off, but none-too influential family in High Rock. As with most Bretons she had aptitude for magical arts, so she earned a letter of recommendation to the College of Winterhold. She'd gotten lost on the way into the Nord-lands when she was set upon by two groups of people. Not meaning any harm she didn't reduce any of them to quivering piles of ash, or sic Aberland her conjured familiar on them.

The imperials rounded everyone up and stripped her of her modest possession, including her acceptance letter. The rest everyone knows.

(Seriously, It's like almost two weeks in and I'm still in Whiterun because spells are freaking expensive. Yeah, I like to role play it. It's just fun.)

My Argonian, Milah, was a former slave in Mournhold. One night, her Master came home smelling of skooma and khajiiti pornography. Finally being fed up with being forced to serve under such a man, she murdered him during his nightly orgy with some of the local priestesses. Much blood was sprayed during this encounter, and as she fled, Milah noticed, in a mirror she was passing, how the streams of crimson shone against her black scales. This image inspired her, and weeks later, stumbling into Cheydinhal, Milah was witnessed sporting war paints across her head and neck, mimicking the streaks of blood that were evidence of her deed, along with a fresh scar across one eye which she gained fighting with a guar during the trip.

She quickly bought a seat on a passing supply wagon heading north, having come into Cyrodiil right in the middle of the war and not wanting to stay. Some may wonder why she didn't instead head south, back to her homeland, and indeed, she wanted to, but no caravans were heading that way for months, and she didn't particularly want to travel alone, dressed only in her slave rags with nothing else. She didn't even have gold on her, instead having to trade her only caliper to the Khajiit driving the wagon to even gain that seat.

She slept in the wagon during the journey north, and when she finally awoke, the robed Khajiit was gone, along with the supplies in the wagon. She was surrounded by Imperials who were escorting a prison caravan along the road and were stopped by her wagon, standing directly in the way. Appearing to be an attempted roadblock by the Stormcloaks, they took her, ignoring her angry mutters about that lying Khajiit leaving her like that.

My High-Elf is a battle-mage named Pentrica. She has a very abusive father and is struggling to keep up with the rent he keeps dishing out every week. He mother was killed by a pack of overly upset mudcrabs that tore her limb from limb, then layed eggs in her eye sockets. Pentrica witnessed this at the age of 5 and has never been mentally stable from that day forward.

One day, her father said "Go out and pick some nice flowers and bring me home a nice toasted rabbit while you're at it. Maybe that will convince me not to beat you tonight."
He sat down in his wooden chair next to the kitchen table, feet up, with some of the heaviest nord mead septims could bring.

Pentrica was eager to leave the house, for she could be away from her father.

She had a sudden realization, she's been living in a hell-hole her whole life. She was fed up. Pentrica said to her-self, from that day forward, no one was going to be the boss of her ANYMORE! She ran with all of her might, far away from that miserable home.

She stopped to catch her breath and realised she was close to the border of Skyrim. She was about to cross the border when she was ambused by Imperial soldiers.

Apparently, her father knew Pentrica had run away, and ordered at hit on her. She was to be killed on sight.

Unfortunatley, that wasn't going to happen. There weren't many High-elfs in Skyrim and both of the soldiers have had fantasies about High-elfs since they were teenagers. The guards knocked her out and had their way with her.

The next day, she woke up to two pleasent surprises.

"So, you're finally awake." Says the man dressed in blue. The other, well, you know.

After stumbling upon a bandit camp that was notorious for smuggling skooma illegally into Skyrim, my bosmer thought it was only logical to help rid the country of these wrongdoers, and proceeded to slaughter every last one. Once he was finished, he figured the skooma wasn't doing anyone any good just sitting there, so he then started drinking the bottles so as to keep Skyrim safe. Unfortunately, his kindness cost him dearly, for when the guards found him he was riding a mammoth naked, whilst swinging a broom over his head shouting something that could only vaguely be translated to "I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than you!"

My dunmer refugee was trying to pick the pockets of a stormcloak group (clearly important), but picked the worst possible time to try stealing something. One bout of unconsciousness later...

My Nord was from a family who seeked out justice. Guards, vigilantes, bounty hunters, etc. However, the one law his family actively broke was the ban on Talos worshiping. His father, younger brother, sister, and uncle were caught by the Thalmor. His mother was wounded, so he took her to Anvil to hide amongst trusted friends. He was lost, and decided, with his mother's suggestion, to head to Skyrim, Talos' birthplace, and find his answers. Upon crossing the borders, he met a few Stormcloaks.

Being armed with his father's sword, and leather armor, they supplied him with some warmer clothes. Only after seeing them mistreat a passing Argonian trader did he leave the clothing, and set out on his own. Intolerance killed his family, and he'd have none of that. Only shortly after leaving the Stormcloaks, he was hit upside the head from a bandit who relieved him of his family sword and his money. Spotted by the Imperials leaving the camp, they assumed him one of them. Trusting the guidance of the Nine, he did not struggle, he would believe in them, or die a fool.

Well I have two characters so far and a third planned, so I'll humor this, though it'll be pretty long:

Glaeke, the Breton Warrior-Mage, was on a pilgrimage to the College of Winterhold in order to hone her magical skills. Knowing little about the geography of Skyrim, as she stumbled across the border from Cyrodil she noticed a few Nords engaged in battle with Imperials. It didn't take long for them to mistake her for being with these so-called "Stormcloaks" and a stray fireball knocked her unconscious.

Mordsuul, an extremely, unnaturally long-lived Dunmer who was a high-ranking member of the Mages Guild during the events of Morrowind and often confused for the Nerevarine, moved to Cyrodil shortly after the aforementioned Nerevarine left for Akavir. In Cyrodil, he became the Arch-Mage of the local Arcane University. He was known throughout both provinces for being an extremely powerful sorcerer and conjuror, feared by most men. However, shortly after the events of the Oblivion Crisis, Mehrunes Dagon decided to enact revenge on the Arch-Mage because coincidentally, not only had he resembled the Nerevarine from Morrowind, he also strongly resembled the Hero of Kvatch. Mehrunes stripped the Dunmer of his magical abilities and, ashamed at his loss of power, he fled back to his homeland. However, it was around this time the Red Mountain erupted and the Argonian's began to invade, forcing him to flee to Solsteim. After spending many years in solitude on the frigid isle, Mordsuul decided that he would attempt to regain his former power by visiting the College of Winterhold in Skyrim, the last remaining bastion for mages in the nothern provinces. On his way across the border, an Imperial caravan ambushed him, accusing him, a Dunmer of all people, of being a Stormcloak sympathizer. He didn't even know who these Stormcloaks were, let alone knew why he might be a sympathizer, but the Imperials wouldn't listen and, being mostly powerless, he was knocked unconscious and wrangled into the back of a cart with Ulfric.

And last but not least, the character I have yet to make (props go to a post I saw the other day made in this style, I can't remember the user's name though):

Ha'dar travels with M'aiq. He does not know where M'aiq plans to go, but he follows. It gets colder and colder, and Ha'dar is glad for his coat. Suddenly, M'aiq tells Ha'dar to stop. Nords, he says he sees. M'aiq tells Ha'dar that these Nords are wanted by Imperials. Ha'dar has no love for Imperials, but he knows these Nords would treat him no better. Ha'dar figures he could sneak up to them in the middle of the night and capture the leader, grab the favor of the local Imperials. Little did he know, Imperials were planning to attack all along! Ha'dar was about to stick his dagger in the back of one most unruly Nord, something like Ulroc, or Ulfberth, Ha'dar did not catch his name, when suddenly Imperials storm the camp! Ha'dar did not know what to do! He looked around for M'aiq, but M'aiq was gone! M'aiq always said he preferred to adventure alone, Ha'dar never believed him. Imperials thought Ha'dar was allied with Nords, and before he could explain the situation Ha'dar was bound and blindfolded to be taken away to some execution! Horrible first day in Skyrim. Ha'dar wishes he never left Elsweyr.

My character was leaving Cyrodiil because of all of the mudcrabs. Filthy creatures.

...Skyrim has mudcrabs too. He was misinformed.

Anja's parents were imperial soldiers stationed in Cyrodil. They often spoke of the greatness of Skyrim, their ancestral homeland, though Anja had lived in Cyrodil for as long as she can remember. When they were killed off by Thalmor assassins Anja thought she would honor their memory by visiting the homeland they had not been to for so long. Enthralled by the allure of her parents tales she ignored the obvious danger in going into the war-torn north bringing only her alchemy supplies and some food. as she was trading potions to a group of blue-clad soldiers they were suddenly ambushed! by imperial troops! Anja tried to reason with them but since she was a nord trading with some stormcloaks she was obviously betraying the Empire...

The dark elf, Legion, had heard about the rebellion. He suspected that there may be a power vacuum soon. A vacuum that he could fill. Getting into the Stormcloak camp was child's play, but becoming captured along with the leader, Ulfric Stormcloak, was a stroke of luck. One which opened up many avenues on which to pursue his dream of ruling Skyrim, and then, all of Tamriel.

My altmer mage, Indarys, was raised in Morrowind and was therefore never exposed to the jingoistic hieracrchy of the High Elves. For years, the thalmor have been attempting to conscript rogue altmer into their ranks, and torturing and killing any and all who attempted to oppose them.

He found Skyrim to be the most logical place to hold up; they had a location by which he could learn magic away from the Thalmor's influence, the Thalmor were disliked there most of all due to their ban of Talos worship, and Indarys believed that if he could aid in the crushing of the Stormcloak rebellion, the Empire might be powerful enough to finally defeat his oppressive kinsman.

Urza gra-Shurgak was raised by a small clan in the Wrothgarian Mountains. The weakening of the Empire led to the Legion's abandonment of the backwater in which she grew up, and the area was soon torn apart by infighting in the Orsimer clans and Redguard attempts to ethnically cleanse High Rock. When most of her kin were slain, she fled to the nearest country-Skyrim-with the intent of making her fortune as a mercenary in the Stormcloak Rebellion, and to allow herself to strike back at the negligent Imperials that allowed her home to burn.

My Breton sneaky swordsman was sneaking around a bandit cave taking their stuff. He took the back door out of the cave and wandered aimlessly into Skyrim to sell the loot. The Imperials mistook him for a Stormcloak messenger they were expecting and roughed him up. To cover their mistake they sent him to the block. He still supports the Empire though, his dad was a Legionairre.

My Imperial two-handed expert lady was wandering over the border when an Imperial soldier took a "liking" to her at the border camp. She killed him in self defense and was sent the block for it. She doesn't care about politics.

A Breton Thief flees Hammerfall for Skyrim, only to be caught with Stormcloaks. Yeah, it's not entertaining.
