I've been out of the gaming scene for a while, due to a noticeable hole in my steady income. So anyways, I'm getting my first proper-sized paycheck in half a year, and I was gonna grab me a couple of games on payday.

Thing is, I've been properly out of the loop for about 18 months now, and I'd like for you fellas to recommend a few really solid PS3 titles that came out during the past year and a half. I'm in no mood for trying my luck with a "you might like it, you might not like it" type of game right now. Also, just posting your favourites is cool enough too, I'll just pick what I need from your suggestions.

Much appreciated.

You can't go wrong with Ratchet & Clank.

And you have three of them on PS3!

Demon's Souls, but that falls into the "you might like it" category you wish to avoid.

Uncharted 2
Heavy Rain
Metal Gear Solid 4
God of War Collection
Folklore
Flower
Demon's Souls

I could go on.

God of War 3 for hack-n-slash glory.

Modnation Racers for cart-racing and customization fun.

Demon's souls

Uncharted 2 (First one was crap)
i didnt like MSG4. however demons souls was amazing as was U'2 (i didnt think the first one was that bad)

i would say if your into FPs's KZ2 might be up your street. fantastic visuals, excellent (enemy) AI and a mediocre story made it a solid title.

however i have to suggest buying a Ratchet and Clank game as their fun and a Resistance game (preferably the first one)

Uncharted 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Have fun!

EDIT: Oh, and Dragon Age!

I'd say Heavy Rain and Ratchet and Clank. There isn't a single Ratchet and Clank game I didn't like.

I also immensly enjoyed Prototype, but others did not, so that's a 'maybe'.

Heavy Rain, and well, you can get the original Command and Conquer for the PS1 from the online store thing.

*ahem*

[HEADING=1]RATCHET AND CLANK![/HEADING]

They are fantastic games, and well worth your time.

Also I suggest Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet, Modnation Racers, and Killzone 2.

God damn ninja's, first post and first suggestion.

Fine, choice number 2 is Modnation racers, I have just payed £1.59 to play as sweet tooth in his ice cream van (from the twisted metal series).

EDIT. Oh comon! Ninja'd again!

Uncharted & Uncharted 2. Red Dead Redemption. God Of War Collection & God Of War III. Demon's Souls. Ratchet & Clank (any/all).

That should do you to start with. It's actually quite a nice position to be in, there's a ton of great games availible to you for half of what they cost at release.

Dragon Age: Origins if you're a fan of RPGs.

LittleBigPlanet if you don't already have it. It's a title that myself and a lot of my friends love, although our tastes in gaming vary quite drastically.

Heavy Rain, but only if you don't mind quick-time events. There are a lot of them.

Valkyria Chronicles is DEFINITELY one of my favourite titles, but it may not be for everyone. Worth a rent at least, if you're into turn-based strategy games.

Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas, depending on your budget and whatever else.

Left 4 Dead or its sequel, Left 4 Dead 2, because zombie slaying is AWESOME.

I'm sure there are more, but they escape me.
