At the time when this song came out over here I was dealing with a breakup which was essentially my fault. I just had Kerrang on one night and it came on, first time I heard it, and the lyrics blindsided me.

Particularly: "We all need the person who can be true to you, I left her when I found her, now I'd wished I'd stayed"

"Some search, never finding a way, before long, they waste away. I found you, something told me to stay, I held on to selfish ways and now I miss someone to hold when hope begins to fade"

One of the last times I actually cried listening to this, well over two years ago now.

YESSSS!!!! But this song always gets to me and affects my mood alot.

I was certainly surprised with this song.

And this one almost made me cry.

Good stuff.

EDIT : I just listened to the opening of Elfen Lied and it gave me chills the whole way through. I still feel chilly...

For some reason, "Pretend" from Lights makes me sad. Something about a lost childhood, I'm guessing.

Mad world - Gary Jules
Edit: Not so much that I agree with the song. For lack of a better word I might even call it emo but the piano is haunting and so are the lyrics.

I am surprised when any song affects me.

I was sort of blindsided by this, though.
Just playin' a game about some cowboys, mindin' my own business, and then bam, this comes on.

It wasn't so much that it made me feel sad. But it did make me feel something.
I just have no idea what.
Ahh yes, the song that plays when you get to Mexico.

Surely one of the best placed songs in any game. Just riding around a new unknown land at night, taking in the sights and sounds as the stars shine down. I thought it was a pretty magical moment when the song starts up. I cant pin down how it made me feel, but like you I felt something. I guess it had the effect of making me feel very peaceful.

Actually, The Beatle's 'I'm looking through you'
I could use it word for word for someone I know.
Well done, you win the internet.

OT: Before I heard this, I would have never thought I'd catch myself getting emotional over a top 40 song, let alone one with Dido in it.

Ditto this, except replace Dido with "Coldplay in general".

Scarecrow! It's late (at least in my part of the world), so I'm guessing that's why there's the lower traffic... Ain't this predominately a US site? I know it's based here, so I suppose I could just be assuming... Anyways-
I hadn't heard the song for a long while, and it's not the whole song that hits me hard, but the first "paragraph" of the lyrics nearly made me cry.
I adore that song. One of the most powerful I've ever heard. Though, when you hear other songs by him, that almost takes away some of the emotion... almost.

OT: Radiohead's Karma Police always makes me sad, even though I don't even listen to the lyrics. Of course, it's associated with hard times in my life, so that might explain it.

Another song that affected me was Hedley's "Old School". I'm not even old enough to really "get" the song, but I see what it's supposed to feel like.

My last one is "Map of Your Head" by Muse. It's an odd song that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's just so damn quirky that I can't help but be affected by it.
