So I have been seeing a lot of stories on here about how bad gamers are being treated and how no one understands anymore and i kind of agree but you know what i saw a break through with my own dad that while it was tiny it is kinda cool because my dad isnt a younger parent he is on his way to 46 right now and has never been into any type of games
and the story goes...
My dad is one of those people who is good at just about anything he does. Cooking, building, painting, drawing, fixing things both mechanical and electrical, and the list goes on. One thing that he has never gotten into is video games. Even when i got the original xbox way back when it came out (LOL) he bought a few games that he liked then only played them once i think and never touched the controller again. However my birthday was not too long ago and he got me Portal 2 for my birthday after i had dropped several hints (several hundred
) and he installed it on his computer just to see what it was. Well i came up after my brother runs downstairs saying that dad was playing Portal 2. When i got upstairs i saw he was indeed playing but he was at the first part of the game and couldnt figure out how to do anything except look around (he was still before the tutorial part listing to stuff and looking around)
After about 30 minutes of me and my brother talking him though the controls he finally started to get the hang of it. Well i went off after that can came up 3 hours later. He was still playing it. Here is a man who lost focus on the xbox when he couldnt figure out how to play (he tried teaching him) and Portal 2 had him almost fixed on it. I couldnt help but smile at that just because it was one of those things that you dont really see happen. Most kids never get to see there parents take a liking to something that the kid has done forever. Its a break through on my part a tiny one but a breakthrough none the less.
Thanks for reading... I hope this makes you smile just a little bit
