just wondering if I'm the only one who's noticed this or if it's just in my area

but "Repo! the genetic opera" seems to be catching on

but it seems to only be catching on with people who have things for weird horror, and sudden interest in opera (like they saw the phantom of it and went nuts)

anyways bottom line

is it just me or does "Repo!" appear to be the "Rocky Horror Picture Shows" fan-girls equvilent to the average girls "Twilight"

bad movie, bad story, but "OMG OPERA HORROR!" (much like "OMG WUSSY VAMPIRES!")

and yes I am prepared for hate-mail on this

I didn't mind it personally (I found it to be a gloriously unapologetic mess of a film)... but yes, it was meant to be the next Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I find it to have a good plot, actually. I guess we'll talk more about it on Skype. Not only is the story great, but I like the cast and the music. Even Paris Hilton did a good job, considering that she was pretty much playing herself. Again, Skype. :)

I've never seen it, but for some reason, I just can't take your opinion that seriously... It seems kind of biased for some reason...

OT: Again, never seen it.

Meh. Repo! knew what it wanted to be minute one of day one and that was a campy, over the top, horror rock opera. I forgive a lot of its faults because the directors were not going for serious art, they were going for a good time that did not make a whole lot sense.

Repo! is not a bad film, what it is is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", combining With Labrynth and Sweeney Todd

The story is not bad,the cinematography is good, and the music is quite good.

I think the problem here is not that Repo! is bad but rather you are counter culture, so used to being "indie' are you that when a large number of people begin to like something you subconsciously begin to see its flaws and overlook its virtues.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
I was seriously planning to cosplay as pavi largo, and I find myself humming the songs at least 2 a month.
I understand it's not for everyone but it's one of those movies you have to see to believe kinda like "Tokyo Gore Police" (If you have never heard of that one, see it, I watched it with my friends and we were laughing and cringing during every second. it's so awful it's awesome)

and as always...

I loved it, yes it was done on the fast and cheap and the lyrics weren't the most inventive but as it stands it had lots of good modern culture references, great acting and well done musical numbers all done to the classic plot of a traditional Shakespearian drama (i.e dying father and the kids fighting over the inheritance). I thought it was a hoot, really fun. Might not be perfect but it is becoming a cult hit so that's something and I do think it is certainly an interesting movie and very fun to watch.
I just love the silly oversexualized gore and crazy musical numbers. So yes, I think it's good that it's getting popular, might not be the best movie ever or for everyone but it was a strange and unique interesting little movie that almost could have been perfect if it had the right budget.

I do that with everything I come in contact with, I won't find a gem if I treat everything with scrap on it like it's steak!

on an off note, just to summarize all my thoughts, I am referred to as "Non-crazy Yahtzee" by many... apparently my opinions on games got me refereed to as him

I thought it was a fun little flick that almost succeeds at making up for its flaws. I have no desire to watch it again though, unless I'm with a group of people who want to MST3K the hell out of it.

Side note: Paris Hilton did not deserve the Razzie she won for her performance. If anything, she was one of the film's strengths.

A LITTLE GLASS VIAL!

I thought it was good as well. It was pretty crazy but the cinematography was good and I liked the musical numbers (didn't agree with the 80's-looking "17" one, but I liked the rest, especially the one with Blind Mag's hologram eyes).

All in all, I liked it! Certainly not so-bad-it's-good, though I'd be lying if I wasn't expecting that going in.
