I hate it when people do that. It just goes to show just what sheep people are. I refuse to jump on such bandwagons.
Is that like a thing? This is the first time I've ever seen something like that, and at first I thought the forum had clitched.

What's the point? To confuse and annoy people?

The fact that everyone has Lack's is far more annoying. I already hated his to begin with. Follow your advice and get your own shit
If I recall its showing people not in the pub club that avatar for some reason instead of what the person has their avatar set to, JoJo for instance claims his avatar is actually from bioshock but others are seeing it as Lack's

So I think someone at the escapist fucked something up in their database and now its messing with the avatars.
That's not the case. I'm in the PubClub and my avatar is still Jimmy. Pretty sure some people are just trying to cause confusion.

I like not having an avatar because I like not being remembered. If people start to recognize me and remember things about me, I feel like my ability to have an honest conversation with them is threatened.

I know this sounds really creepy and antisocial, but it's actually more like a long experiment I'm running. I'm open with my personality on other sites, and people treat me very differently there. Sometimes I just want to be another blank face in the crowd.

(Although if not having an avatar becomes very rare, I'll definitely use Grumpy Cat.)
Thanks for a genuine reply, I guess I can see why you would do that. I recognise your name but I can't think of anything in particular you've said...

Jeez people, just leave it alone, it's not hurting you or inconveniencing in any way. Don't worry. Soon there'll be another thread complaining about post counts, and we will have come full circle.
Those are indeed annoying. "Jeeze, guys! Your obscenely high post counts are not helping my inferiority complex! POST COUNT RESET NOW PLOX, OR ELSE I'LL MAKE A GRUMPY FACE IN THE CORNER OVER THERE!"

It's a number. Get over it. It's just a fucking stupid number.

As for the avatar, I have to admit I'm getting tired of seeing "Let me hear your war cry" everywhere. I know this is very personal, but I can tolerate Vault101 shopping Daystar's avartar with his dog persona. This, though?

I just don't get it. How is that funny? "Hey, you guise, let's all pick the same avatar and title for the lulz!"

Well, it's not terribly lulzy. Again, that's just me.

Yes it's happened before. Last time it was when someone discovered an animated .gif (or had it made) of Jim Carry with Lady Gaga hair and set it as their avatar and everyone and their dog on this site thought it be funny to imitate this person. I thought it was irritating and stupid, esp. since the .gif was irritating and stupid too so having a billion (hyperbole) all over the place was esp. exasperating. And it's not any less irritating now.
As to the point of it, to confuse and annoy people is the only reason I can come up with.

I don't really see what the big deal is. It's just a profile pic and if it's generic, then it doesn't really matter.a

Pick an avatar unique to your life, I say. My glowing handprint is from the summer Camp I've been going to for almost a decade.

I think you need to get out more, the forums are clearly doing funny things to your head.

Meh, I find the confusion it causes to be amusing. I, on the other hand, will keep the rocking, festive Shepard as my avatar because it's Shepard... with an omni-guitar... wearing a Santa hat... sweet.

I'm having trouble with my avatar. Its a gif but whenever I try to upload it, it won't work. It uploads fine but there is no spinning turtle.
Also I don't mind the default. I prefer it to people constantly changing them. I never recognize people anymore.

Thanks for reminding me, now I have my Christmas avatar! :D

Can't say it really bothers me that much people not having avatars. It's more interesting if they do but it doesn't make a big difference to me.

hmm...perhaps you haven't seen it, so just in case, i'll link you to it. the gif is from this, not the fact that it was jim carrey's face with lady gaga's hair randomly.

OT: while it would be better to have a more interesting default, it doesn't bug me anywhere near as much as lack's avatars, every single one of those can burn in fucking hell, especially the newest one that so many people have copied.

seriously, if there was a way to burn internet, the first things to go would be those gif's.

It actually takes me a few days to set and avatar :/. For some reason, I upload it, it shows the broken image picture for like a day or two. and then it suddenly shows up. I'm still waiting on my super awesome golbat avatar to show up.
Edit: Oh, it just finished setting within an hour of posting this. Also notable, I uploaded this on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

I don't particularly care where it came from, it's still stupid and annoying.

also a side thought: Would be interesting if the default avatar changed to something after a certain amount of time...justin bieber after a month of not changing it perhaps?

I get that people get associated with a certain image/gif, but variety is the spice of life!

Thus explaining my morbid fascination with change >.>
