Introducing the Pandaren is not the problem. Theming the entire expansion around them...that is the problem.

Everyone asks "Why is this stupid, when Walrus men, Blood Elves, Space Goats, etc was not?". It's because "Wrath of the Lich King" was about Northrend, and Arthas, and the Walrusmen were just a bit of silly side flavor, and they were called "Tuskarr" and not "Walrusians".

Now imagine it had been a Walrus themed expansion, called "Shores of Walrusia", and starred the Walrusians, on the continent Walrusia, and had gobs of Walrus themed content. Think people might have complained a shark was jumped? I think they might.

Come up with a real expansion and just shuttle the Pandaren in there as a playable race, and the fuss would have been minimal. And now I need to try and think of a way to say "Doing it like this was just pandering" without it coming across like the world's worst pun. Thanks Blizzard.

getting wound up over terminology is a waste of energy, wait till you see some content and give up because of that. (all you can judge on now is a few earley visuals, and the new talent trees)
I don't know how "wound up" I'm getting. I haven't played WoW since WOTLK, and had no intention of returning for another expansion regardless of what it was. Sure all we have to go on is terminology and a few early visuals, but that terminology and those early visuals are highly questionable and invite mockery. If you've chosen stupid, infantile terminology for your rubbish concept, you can't really then cry foul if someone takes the piss out of it. If I have a villain in my piece, and I call him Evilentor, there's not a lot I can do content wise to stop that from being a stupid name. Pandaren has always been a stupid, lazy name. Pandaria is just flat out insulting.

WoW has jumped the shark. That is all.
This is pretty much how I feel about the Pandaren expansion. People have wanted Panderan characters forever (Im one of them) but the problem is WoW is giving its player base less content but still charging the same price and I think theres a big problem with that. The other thing is they talk about a lot of in faction fighting but the content we know of just doesnt reflect that so it seems like a poor attempt to get back older players

I played wow in its original form up to burning crusade and quit after my guild killed Illidan. I left because I didnt feel like I was having fun with the game anymore. No big deal. Then I came back to the game for Cataclysm a few months ago but after three months of hardcore heroic content raiding I just felt like the game wasnt for me anymore and I quit. I doubt I'll go back but you never know

Well it'd be 'Shores of Tuskarria' for one thing.

Tuskarr were also in Warcraft 3 by the way, and as they're native to Northrend, it'd doubtful you'd see an expansion based around their new continent.

But for the record, Tuskarr are awesome, so I'd be okay with that too.
