I mostly ignore overpowered weapons because they are usually quite boring. Shame not many other people think like that.

And that comment about the ACOG sniper in MW1; people didn't hate it because it was good in CQC, they hated it because the scope gave it extra damage. That extra damage let it become a 1 hit kill anywhere on the body with Stopping Power.
I agree that overpowered weapons are boring, and the point of a game is to have fun, so being forced to use a weapon and remove the element of fun to some just to stand a competitive chance isn't what I would say is fun, most of the fun of playing comes from having close matched that test wit and team tactics, in the case of shooters anyway.

As for the ACOG/sniper combo damage increase, I was unaware it made it more powerfull, but the reason most people were annoyed from what I saw, was that they were killed in CQC by being one-hit-killed by what was usualy an M40, which is sort of a futile argument because I have tried my hand at the ACOG sniping, it isn't exactly easy so if someone comes at me with it, I'll do what I can to out-gun them, but if I still lose than there is no shame in it.

Really? One of the reasons it annoys me when I get killed by someone quickscoping, is because when I tried it, I realised that it isn't nearly as hard as it looks in the killcam. Just line someone up in the middle of the reticule(i.e, look at them-hardly difficult) tap aim and fire.

Admittedly first time I tried it i'd been playing quite a long time, but I really didn't find it difficult. Particularly since you don't even have to be dead on target. It'll often count as a hit when you miss by a bit.

Also, at close quarters, snipers can just no-scope. This is annoying with a 1 hit kill gun. Particularly with steady aim. One of my friends claims that the sniper(or M40, or ACOG M40, I forget) is way more accurate than it should be no scoping. Though he may just be bitching, I've never seen any actual evidence of this.

Admittedly the amout I tried to use it was not substantial, about 1-2 TDM games at most, but the point remains that it is still annoying to be one shot killed before you can even get one shot off with say, an MP5, my favorite weapon :D
