My bad.
My answer is so out of place in this thread.
Whatever, she is totally kick ass, I just didn't realise you literally meant women who physically kick asses.
It is, but it isn't, is what I'm saying. It's a take which I did not consider, which is a good thing for discussion.
Anyway...
Let's talk Babylon-5.
Probably the three top female characters in there would be Delenn, Susan Ivanova, and Lyta Alexander.
Delenn, of course, is a leader. She is not the greatest fighter, but she is of a composed will that drives people forwards by words alone, and not just of her people. Even when pulled from the Grey Council, she has extreme pull from having mythic-level wisdom on matters.
Susan Ivanova is also in command, but she is more into actual action and gets...creative. She is an effective military leader and combat fighter in one. And by the end of the series, she is...what? General of Earth's armed forces in their entirety and leader of the Rangers?
And Lyta...well...where to begin? First psychic to read the mind of a Vorlon, rebel against her controlling agency to expose a Sleeper agent on the station, heading off to become a Vorlon liason at the risk of her own life, fighter for psychic-human rights. Oh...and walking telepathic nuke.
