What is your major and what subject infuriates you the most?

I am a Biology major but i have to take a ridiculous amount of chemistry. For the past five hours I have been doing what could be the hardest fucking chemistry homework in the known universe and wondered, who else out there is suffering?

Here in the rest of the world we call it university. We don't have majors or minors, we simply choose a subject to concentrate on or we can do a joint subject. For instance, instead of law, I do law & criminology.

The first bit was a joke by the way.

I've a double History major and English as my minor. English is way more work than my history, even though the History is supposed to be the equivalent of two other subjects. Go figure.

I'm a math major, but I'm stuck in a first year writing requirement course this semester because AP English credit won't pass me out of it here. The amount of worthless busywork errs on the side of staggering.

I'm becoming a Communications major, and my Philosophy class bugs the hell out of me; the prof spends about 3 days worth of classes to explain a concept that takes 30 minutes to explain.

Science courses for not science majors are worthless. As a Social Studies Education major, I will never use Earth Science or Biology. You can argue that I will use skills learned in my composition and statistics course, but certainly not sciences.

I'm British and I'm doing a Masters in Pharmacy - so I've covered a number of topics.

Genomics, Drug Development and Immunology are high up there on topics I hated.

But I'm doing Business Studies. I read the first few chapters of a text book my girlfriend owns as she did Business and Marketing and after five months, I'm still further ahead after one week of reading a text book than we are in the lectures.

There are no majors and minors in British unis, just X, X and Y, then X with Y. They all count as one degree regardless of the title.

First year at college. Starting my major in Political Science, then transferring to the University of Alberta to finish it. After that is done, I'm spending another three years obtaining my Bachelor of Law. What subject infuriates me the most? French. Learning a new language sucks

I'm going for Computer Science.
And it's quite annoying for me sometimes here...I attend a liberal arts college.
Which means I have to take something called "Humanities," a course that translates into "Overthinking the FUCK out of history and expecting you to enjoy it."
It sucks. Hard.
I think I'm dropping it this semester, though.
That should make me happier.

Oh and also The state i live in requires science majors to have 8 credit hours of Arts and Humanities. WHY? if i am doing Pre-med does it really help me to learn about Picasso or Van Gogh?

Well I went for an English major with an education minor...then switched to a theology major with a communications minor in the pre-seminary program...then got into radio broadcasting at a community college, and now work in radio.

And I have one bit of advice to those still thinking about what they want to do: School kicks ass when you're doing what you love.
And I freaking love radio broadcasting.

Well, Arts and Humanities also includes things like History and Politics, which can be handy to know...

Anyway, by the American system I'm a History major and studying a minor in Politics and another in Geography (In Scotland we have to do 3 subjects at once in the first two years...or at least, I do).

But being on exchange in America means the Geography bit has been thrown out the window, which is a shame...

Chemistry. Woo nerdage.
I do hate physical chemistry though - thermodynamics, reaction kinetics and quantum mechanics. Wonderful.
