Okay, so for my birthday today I decided to visit this at a local museum.
Awesomeness this epic can only be described in pictures. Lots of pictures
On the left hand side, they had some retro consoles. You didn't have to pay to play them.

They had arcade machines that cost 10p to play, games such as

And this

and this

All the consoles were on display.

This was the pong game

Take note kids!
A few children kept asking what the SNES was =/ we should educate them.
So, I'm not just showing you my birthday snaps. On a scale of 1 to omgwtfbbq, how awesome is it? Would you go to it? It's in my hometown, if you do go to the museum, pop into mine for a cuppa!

I'm one of those guys who loves these kinda things, so I would probably go.
It seems pretty cool.
Out of 1-OMGWTFBBQ I would give it a BBQ.

I don't think I'm old enough for these to be nostalgic.
That, or I just wasn't that into gaming when I was young.

I had a PS1, though it was the small white one. And I vaguely remember having some older console. A white-ish thing. I had Prince of Persia and some Simpsons game for it.

How DARE you. That it Manic Miner on the 48k Spectrum. I'm writing a letter to my councillor complaining about the lack of traditional British gaming knowledge these days.

Nice pictures.

I went to this when it was in Manchester! It maybe me misty eyed harkening back to the days of Calico vision and the Atari 2600! It did make me hunger for Dizzy games the absolute staple of my childhood, I loved that little egg and am hoping they re release them on steam or Xbox live as that would rock.

It is awesome, brilliant example of the roots of our culture!

Happy Birthday!

I'd go to that, like I went to the Star Wars exhibition a year or two back.
I am jealous.

And Happy Birthday!

Megadrive, yeah (or Genesis, where I live). Sonic 2, Mystic Cave zone, two-player split screen competition.

...it's taking everything I have not to leap from my computer and rehook up my Genesis.

I now feel old, at one time or another i've owned most of those consoles (except the dreamcast, xbox and vectrex)

Some of them are still hooked up as it happens, and the genesis, N64 and Master system are just a couple of plugs away from life.

I find it funny I never owned a Nintendo console, I grew up with a Sega Genesis and a PS1. The Sega still works fine, but the PS1 fell off the shelf during a very intense game of Frogger.

Sigh, before I was introduced to the PS3, PC etc, I was playing those arcade games, and Gameboy, and I'd research alot into those consoles. Now I ask my friends, "SNES?" they reply: lol wut?

Dammit, I want to break out all my old games and play it now. Oh well, time to sacrifice my time to the Gameboy gods.

A Vectrex.

I would be so tempted to steal it. So tempted. Those things are awesome and rare.

Thank God I'm not the only one.
