A True Stress Relieving Game

I've recently used search and was shocked to not see a thread similar to this. Anyway on to the question-

We've all heard the claim of games that are true fun, makes you enjoy yourself, and gets rid of stress. Its why some games were created, but have you ever played a game that made you feel like it was actually making you have fun and get rid of stress? An example of what could or couldn't be, depending on who you are.

Your playing a online game, say, Halo3. You are moderately enjoying yourself when stupid things begin to happen, say there's crazy lag and you can barely shoot without dying. This just isn't fun.

So I ask you, have you played a game that made you just sit back and enjoy your day, without getting annoyed, or insanely bored?

Mine would probably be Mirror's Edge's demo for now, since not once was I tempted to turn off my system in agitation or boredom, and it made me 'want' to keep playing because of how fun it was!

Mine is Painkiller. Nothing says stress relief like running through Purgatory/Hell killing anything that moves with satisfyingly gory weapons that rip the corpses to shreds.

I played Dead Space today for the first time and although some situations are definitely not relaxing, I have to say I enjoyed myself the whole time. Even dying never pissed me off.

Counter Strike, I play just to have fun, dont care about my score. When I play this way, I usually have a 2.0 kdr anyways so thats always fun. When I actually sit down though to "play" I do terrible.

I know right? It's wierd. Not trying, you end up owning, but when you try to master that talent, you fall flat on your ass on a cooked grenade.

I feel like I'll be slapped round the face for saying it, but Fable 2, I've finished the game 100%...Twice, and I still fail to be bored of it, my Evil character is brilliant for relieving stress, violence is cathartic, as it clearing out an entire village with a massive sword while looking like a pimp.

Or just...Frying them all with a lightning spell with a 5 mile area of effect radius...

Hehe, I forget about Counter Strike. I'll have to agree with that one, especially because of all the different maps and mods making it very varying. Really, the only time I don't have fun with it would be when you go into a Dust2, spawn, and are immediately punctured with 12 awp shots from all sides.

Ever played flOw?
It's a very relaxing game, but I just hop on for a couple of rounds of 2142 with VOIP on, and get some light banter going while we shoot stuff.

For me, I'd have to say Okami. I mean, just looking at the game makes me feel relaxed.

Nope. I can't say I have played Flow.

Anything that I don't consider boring is relaxing enough for me, except when I have a huge lag on multiplayer (but then I search for another server or play something else). A favourite stress relieving game of mine is Sumotori. Seeing those 2 boxy characters stumble and walk like drunken lunatics just makes me laugh.

Serious Sam.

Nothing says stress relief like chaingunning down a horde of charging skeletons, biomechs, headless screaming guys, and whatever else the game decides it feels like throwing at you.

DOTA, if you can find a decent game without people who are assholes. Otherwise the game will make you want to chew up nails and piss out needles.

Twilight Princess.
I never got stuck or had technical issues, and that iron ball and chain was damn satisfying.

I play Metroid Prime with the full HUD off and explore Tallon Overworld, all the lights off (at night), and slightly higher sound.

Boxhead: The Zombie Wars

Yes, it was an online game and therefore not a proper one, but it's still pretty damn fun!

In fact, I'm off to play it now.

Sims 2, I really enjoy it and always find it fun and relaxing. And if I'm ever in a bad mood, I can always make their days worse then mine, hah!
