$200?!?!?. Someone has way too much disposable income...
No, I have very little disposable income and that's about half my point with the $200.

I've always felt that if you can get the game, get the game legally. It sounds like from other responses in here that downloading the game if you own it IS indeed covered under fair use or copy right laws or something so if that is the case, he can have at it (although that's on the OP to research; nothing against the users who are claiming it but I'd look into it before I just blindly start downloading things). I've had multiple PC games break and I've always just re-bought them rather than worry about the legal/moral issues that crop up.

The $200 thing is just a quick price I popped up. That's the price for three new games so if you REALLY wanted it, I don't think $200 is that big of a stretch (which would be about three months of entertainment under my personal current budget). And really, how often are there games that are out there second-hand that is more than $200?...you know, that might make a fun forum game.

I would imagine Final Fantasy VIII on the PC would be pretty damn rare and I was able to find it for $80. Granted, I'd have to look harder to find one that does international shipping and whatnot but I'm only going to do SO much research for the OP : )

Honestly here is your answer. If you want to be a good law abiding citizen of whatever country you're from you have to buy second hand. Even if you reasonably can't piracy is illegal. Now if you want to be a normal person I would say that you are morally within the right to download a game you already bought. As for what you should do, there's the information ^ do with it what you will. If I might make a suggestion however, if you do choose to follow the second option don't admit it on these forums as its a sure way to a ban.
There is nothing illegal about downloading a copy of a game you already own. You cant steal something that is already yours thus they wont punish you.

From the Digital Millenium Copyright Act:
§ 117. Limitations on exclusive rights: Computer programs

(a) Making of Additional Copy or Adaptation by Owner of Copy.- Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106, it is not an infringement for the owner of a copy of a computer program to make or authorize the making of another copy or adaptation of that computer program provided:
(1) that such a new copy or adaptation is created as an essential step in the utilization of the computer program in conjunction with a machine and that it is used in no other manner, or
(2) that such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes only and that all archival copies are destroyed in the event that continued possession of the computer program should cease to be rightful.
(Section 106 is the fairuse rules just an FYI)
See the problem based on the part you quotes (and I by no means am a lawyer or related), but as I understand it the copy must be made from his original copy which is destroyed. No where does it say he is permitted to acquire another copy should his get destroyed, since that would be a copy someone else made of THEIR copy.

Also I am not from the US, and I don't think the OP is either since he lists posts from Amazon.com (US based I believe) and asks about international shipping, so I can't say how exactly the DMCA applies to us.

A Bioware/Volition developer just offered you a PC copy of the game. This thread is now awesome, and over.
And yet it still continues, hah.

Hopefully we can come to some sort of arrangement.
I usually ask for your first born, but apparently that's frowned upon nowadays. Just reimburse for the s+h, the box is sitting in my room collecting dust and I don't really care about making money off it.

Here's a pic of the it:

That's the correct game right? FF8 aka VIII? I've lost track of which FF is which. ;)

I'll try to see if I have any swag left over to slip into the box too. What games are you a fan of?

Please tell me you have a Final Fantasy IX you are willing to part with... My Copys third disk is ruined. My favorite game of all time and it is unplayable.
Sorry, but there's a reason FF8 PC has been sitting on said shelf collecting dust. While I liked FF1, LOVED FF6, and liked FF7, I could only play like 30min into FF8, and basically stopped playing any FF games after that.
