I think you're reading a bit much into my words there. For one thing, I didn't say it's how it should work. For another thing, cynicism has been the bread and butter of The Escapist forums since before I joined. It was endemic to the atmosphere because many of the people were originally brought here by Yahtzee, and naturally they enjoyed and tried to emulate his cynical misanthropy.Barbas said:"How things work"? Who decided that was how things should work? I didn't. Was it you?shrekfan246 said:(Snip).
It's not a question of how the forums should or could be, it's a statement of fact about how they have been.
Also, you don't actually extend a warm welcome, yourself. You spend all of your time instead chastising people in a very negative way for their perceived negativity.OT: This is the title of the thread: 'A warm welcome to Lizzy F620 and Brandon Morse!'
Anyone who finds it unbearably difficult to manage giving someone a decent greeting can keep their sarky remarks to themselves and go and sulk in their echo chamber until they remember how to interact with other human beings again. Nobody needs to hear your contempt for the new staff just because you hadn't even heard of them before GamerGate. If you can't stand the way The Escapist is going, feel free to leave and spare everyone your constant cheap cynicism and negativity. It won't be missed. In fact, you'll be doing people a favour.
For all of my own cynicism, I at least extended my well wishes to the new blood.
