A year in the life of an Escapist

This is not my life story. It is my Escapist story.

About a year ago I actually started to use these forums though I was just a viewer for a long time with out ever posting. I saw no reason to actually post until I got into a religious fight with my friends and posted a forum about it. At the time I had no idea how stupid I was for getting so mad about it or making any kind of big deal of it but isn't that how it always is, the you from the past will always be an idiot compared to the you now because this you totally has it figured out. In this past year though I have come to really like this site. Though I may have seen the "I messed up" thread 200 times I will still look at it and put in my insight. I have learned that this place is collected of like minded people. All of which I like. Sure the Moderaters can be tough sometimes but it's better than having trolls running rampant everywhere. In a way this site has contributed to the person that I have changed into this past year. I have become more understanding and open to new ideas that's for sure. This is one of the few sites where if you bash someone for being different you're the one whose going to end up looking like a fool. I've learned that not everyone is a grammar Nazi but still no one has the right t0 tlk l1ke dis cause its supah fuggin annoying. Overall to keep this short in the past year I have come to love this place not only because we are all understanding but because people here aren't ignorant to the world and try and not be assholes. And because of that I feel like I can call myself an Escapist.

TL;DR I Love the Escapist because the people here are awesome

I've been here for more than two years, and it's starting to wear a bit thin. Maybe it's because I've gotten older, but the majority of threads these days seem to be immature, nerdy tripe. That said, people are still pretty nice here. Group hug.

I've been here for over a year, and it's my second internet home. My first is a forum that I joined back in '08, with maybe ten active users left, so we're all bros. But aside from that, this place is my home. And one of the most civilized forums I've seen (relatively, of course), even if the modding can be quite strict.

Speaking as someone who came to The Escapist around the same time as you did, give or take a week or two, looking at some of the discussions on the forums is what lead me to sign up. I guess I pretty much have the same reasons you do (plus ZP) for joining really.

The forums are intelligent and most seem to match my points of view. The threads are constantly changing so its difficult not to find a discussion to contribute to.

Oh yeah and many people here are hilarious as well as the shows (Zero Punctuation, Unskippable, No Right Answer).

Been here a little more than 2 years. I'm still visiting the site everyday. I've noticed that it's changed in a few ways from how it was back then. We don't have any people making bad Search Bar-puns anymore, which I can't say that I'm sad for, the new people joining don't seem to be doing so solely because of Yahtzee anymore and on the subject of videos: We are getting alot more of them now, and definitively more rapidly than before.

As for the point of discussion, my favorite part of this site is the forum game community. They make bleak days bright.
