If you check the youtube channel, there's an hour and a half long stream of them playing the game and showing off the mechanics they've completed and stuff, before they eventually start showing some of the areas and mechanics that aren't "complete" yet. XD
Aside from getting massively popular and constantly looking for weird new things and covering them massively? I don't really know. :sAnd on that, I'm wondering if there's any way which gamers can help and influence things? The community seems so scattered, and core gamers who'd recomend games such as The Technomancer, Morrowind, Pillars of Eternity etc. get burried beneath the IGN & AAA hype machine. Could Someone like Yahtzee or Jim maybe help smash through the AAA whitewash?
I would really love the more obscure gems getting more coverage.
I'm just wondering of any of the folk already popular such as Yahtzee could fight our corner?
Years ago there was a superb "underground" gaming scene in the UK which all interconnected somehow via magazines called Mean Machines & C&VG (ironicaly one of ther main dudes Jaz Rignall went on to help IGN in its early days if I'm not mistaken). This community was as honest as they come - obscure games getting highlighted and praised where deserved (lord knows some of the Japanese imports I played Id have never heard of), and AAA trash getting absolutely slated where deserved.
I come to the Escapist because I view a lot of it's posters as "true" gamers. People who's opnions are based on what they genuinely experience. No pre-hype brainwashing, no life-influenced malice, no fan-boy allegiance etc.; just an honest opinion. Yes that aint always the case, but on here and a forum called "RPG Watch" I hear and read so much more rich & enlightening things about games than I see elsewhere by far.
If only that genuine passion for games could be given the spotlight it deserves and be allowed to cut and break through all the AAA, drongo "Need For Speed/Fast & Furious" bellends who seem to have influenced gaming to take a far more dumber, lazy & souless diection.
