No, this is not a rant about fast food.
Its christmas soon so supermarkets are filled with the usual products, chocolate santas, gingerbread and their friends.
But there are products which arent quite so usual. For me this year had in stock a little adventure with pringles new flavors, minth choc and sweet cinamon.
at first the taste is mostly weird, but after a few more bites it quickly goes south to simply be disgusting.

So, my questions here are:
What kinda foods have you encountered that shouldnt have made it into full production?
and/or
What kind of strange foods have you found that you actually like?

(it doesnt ned to be christmas related)

Yorkie bars are utterly foul, possibly the worst chocolate bar you can get your hands on here. Taste-wise, they're not far off plastic. NestlƩ, sort yourselves out!

As for strange but irresistible food: Cheesy Pretzels. ERMAGAHD, cheesy pretzels. Perfect for the cinema, for amusement parks, for boardwalks, birthdays, weddings, clubbing, funerals, antiquing, shopping trips, anything.

Fried butter on a stick is way up there for me. We don't have that here luckily. As for what we have here...well, I can't think of anything truly horrid. Anything fast food and instant meal is usually crap. But nothing that I'd consider an 'abominaton'.

Strange foods that I liked: Chicken scewers with cacao marinade. Covered with a mix of tomato, zucchini and raw spinach. Topped with chocolate sauce and a tiny bit of chili sauce. I thought the combination was just terrible at first. But once I tried it... Well, it's one of the best meals I've ever had. Such an intense flavour and just...so good. :p

Foods which should never be made: Corndogs. Okay, they don't taste that bad but a hot dog sausage battered and fried in oil? If that isn't a crime against healthy eating I don't know what is.

Strange foods which I like: alligator and buffalo were pretty nice when I tried them, oh and spouts and broccoli are among my favourite vegetables. I'm also quite partial to orphan stew when I can find some cheap.

Dislike- Kit Kat Cookie Cream flavour. It's just Kit Kat but with a weird sweetness to it that does not taste like cookie cream (yes I have cookie cream before).
Chocolate covered grape. Sure it's lovely when it is chocolate covered bannana, strawberry and to an extent apple but grape? It just taste so foul!

Like- Coke/ Diet Coke with lemon. Since I have been to Chinese resturant alot (chance are if you order a coke, you have a slice of lemon at the top of the drink, it isn't so weird to me unlike some people I know who did find it weird. In fact I love that combined flavour!

Dislike:
Vanilla coke: whoever came up with this idea should be vivisected with a fondue fork. Yes, also if it happened to be a woman.
Dr. Pepper and Red Bull: both taste like some kind of prescription cough syrup to me, otherwise known as something I don't drink because I like it so much.

Like:
Bifi Roll, a jerky smoked little salami in a coat of white bread. Not strange, but just really stupid and plain food that I just can't get enough of.
Trappist-stewed pork with baked apple slices and pureed celery.
Beef in cacao/pepper- based mole sauce with mango salad.
Green olives with white chocolate.
Baked dried dates wrapped in Black Forest ham.

Given the season, I'm surprised noone has mentioned Fruitcake. xP

Chocolate covered Bacon is also unfortunately on my list of two great tastes that don't go great together.

Most people that I have met who serve fruitcake don't object to it because they serve it the traditional way: soaked for a week in really strong rum! XD

A slightly skewed look at the topic, but my complaint is when I find a product I really like, it then disappears because the company decides to stop making it. Just as a couple of examples Little Debbie Devil Squares snack cakes and Creamy Garlic Chicken Helper. They were good. And then they were gone.

Recently, someone introduced me to a local gourmet chocolate maker. He makes limited batches of specialty chocolates, like chocolate with sea salt, or for the truly strange, peanut butter and jelly dark chocolate. Bizarre, but strangely delicious.

Screw that healthy eating bullshit. If people want to clog their arteries with unhealthy crap than by god that's their right and no one should be able to tell them otherwise.

<-----------Still bitter that California banned trans fats in restaurants.

On topic: Salt and vinegar potato chips. I don't understand how people eat and enjoy these, they're absolutely vile, and the vinegar used in them tastes cheap and disgusting.

Any canned meat. It's no better than cat food. In fact, when you open it in the presence of a cat it will act as if it's feeding time.

No, chocolate and sugar should be classified as class A drugs. Every citizen should be required to eat five fruit and veg a day or have it forcibly injected into their bloodstream. Possession of alcohol should be punished by life imprisonment. Who needs freedom when you're healthy?

Okay, I was being sarcastic there. I agree people should have the freedom to eat anything they like legally but there's nothing wrong with encouraging people to voluntarily eat healthily.

Vanilla Coke is my favorite coke so far but I love Dr Pepper way more, just Redbull is absolutely awefull. If Id be mean Id call it sweetened piss...

As a kid I loved Bifi Roll and Carazza and their ranger snack. Ranger was my favorite and I still buy it on the rare ocassions when I find it in a store.

Deep-fried Kool-Ade. This particular abomination of food can be found on the Atlantic City boardwalk right here in Jersey. The weird thing about it is that it's not even that bad, just strange tasting, with a taste that can't really be described. If you don't believe me just Google it.

Found a cheddar dip once for tortillas. Smelled and tasted like plastic barf. Assuming it was some kind of American cheddar since it was the extremely orange kind. Actually, anything American is disgusting. Tried Mountain Dew after all the praise it gets from the internet and found it to be nothing but vitamin-C water and a shitload of sugar. Also tried some coke(strange brand) that must've been at least 60% sugar.

As for foods I like I'd say the Swedish kaviar pastry. It's liked by most Swedes, but the contents sound really foul: fish eggs, tomato paste, sugar and potato flakes. Can't think of anything better right now.

Deep fried anything chocolate-related... It's "bad" enough that chocolate and peanut butter actually do make sweet love to most people's taste buds (and not mine, not due to any kind of "allergic reaction" or anything like that), but deep frying anything with chocolate? WHY WOULD ANYONE ENJOY THAT SHIT?!

...With that said, I actually like deep fried Snickers bars... Though, I can only have one... a year... (That's good enough... Let's not get TOO crazy, now...)

But I love my Vienna Sausages... I know they smell like cat food but they're so damn good!

You monster. That is the best thing to ever happen to the liquid industry. Or any industry!

Anyway dislike:
Peanut Butter M&M's. Whoever made them is the sickest bastard on the planet.

I also hate garlic, but I'm not sure if that counts. I'd be fine if people would keep it to themselves and not force it on me but people (for example; MY DAD) puts it in every single god damn food item. It tastes horrible, even if you do like the taste once you put it in something all you can taste is garlic anyway. Why not save some perfectly good food and just eat straight garlic?

Something I like...
I enjoy making two minute noodles, draining the juice and mixing the noodles with cream cheese. Thats the spread thing, not some type of actual cheese. It sounds kinda weird but its actually delicious.

I also make noodle omelettes which are amazing. I didn't believe it at first but its actually incredible.
