I'm a little unsure about asking this in case people aren't too fond of these but is it worth getting? I read a few comments about it and I hear good and bad but mostly bad... Also I won't be able to buy it straight away, I'm going to have to most likely wait for the PS3 version since my PC is an awful one and can't run it (hopefully this will help your answer) and that's about basically it.

(sorry for going a little off-topic but yes I played FFXI I did enjoy that a lot used to have a 60 something Summoner just in case someone recommended trying that instead.)

Yeah..the concept and art is nice but its high system requirements, along with the fact that it is said to lack alot of the most basic comforts of a modern day MMO make it an awkward experience, its also still too punishing for a conventional gamer, which it probly inherited from final fantasy 11.

At the moment, god no.. They have a loooooooooooooooooooot of shit to fix, but since you're waiting for ps3 version in a couple months it could give them time to work it out. I played FF11 too and anything you liked about the game is gone in this one. It'll be best to wait a couple months and just keep your ear to the ground about it.

Eh, I've not been hearing good things about it from those friends who did try it.

Yahoo declared the game a huge flop, but they tend to be about as correct on things as Fox News.

Haven't heard a whole lot, but apparently they have a very lazy map design team. Copy/paste map design FTL (It's faster than light? REALLY? ...why did I just use an acronym I routinely make fun of?).

Screenshots here [http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/ff14-copy-paste-fest---beta-te/1120254]... I swear there was a funny game review video involved with this somewhere...

That's pretty insane but similar to one of the commenter's said doesn't WoW do that?.

Also I swear I read somewhere that they got some FFXI area's and made them more HD, I don't honestly mind that as long as there are a lot of new area's but just wondering as well if that is true or not?

most likely due to it being designed for the PS3 from the ground up. :/
From the sound of that it makes it seem like it is better to get it for PS3.

I've been playing it since the Open Beta.

At retail release it felt very unfinished, it was rather barren, lacking in quest content, very unresponsive and laggy UI, general difficulty balance issues as well as lack of reason to party and very inconsistent rewards based on effort in battle. Incredibly disorganized player-based market making it nearly impossible to find items. This is just in general, I could go on all day about specific problems.

Square-Enix is actually showing a significant amount of effort to actually improve the game though and actually listening to the major complaints. The game already feels much different than release, in a good way. In the most recent update they fixed the UI, making it now much quicker and more responsive, menu lag as been greatly decreased. Many battle abilities have been improved to be effective. Experience/Skill Points have been made much more consistent.
I'm enjoying it a lot overall, but a lot of that is due to playing with people I've known for years since XI. It has quite a few good thing stuck in there, such as the battle system being fairly active and engaging. It really just needed more time before being released.

I wouldn't exactly recommend the game at this moment in time, it is not as bad as it was to begin with, but it still has a ways to go. If they keep up their effort though I can imagine that it will be in a much more respectable form by the time the PS3 release rolls around. I can't say that for certain though, so make sure you keep a close eye on it around release time.

Thanks for all your help I decided to get it for the PS3 when it is released and just hope for the best. (hopefully will still have that really long free trial with it haha).

If it's allowed I have another question about the jobs in it. Is there anything like a Summoner from 11 yet or not, also I don't really get does crafting level you up as well? (sorry for the constant questioning but I'm just a little confused about some stuff XS).

1) There are two kinds of level in the game - there's your physical level which basically affects your stats, and there's your class level, which affects what abilities you can use (to greatly simplify things). Yes, crafting increases your physical level as well as you craft skill level (craft skills are full-fledged character classes of their own).

2) There are currently no pet jobs of any kind in the game.

That's exactly what I'm doing about it. Just keeping an eye. By the time that they may have fixed everything and it would be worth getting, I might actually have some form of a decent system to play it on. Or maybe even a PS3.

I know I said I wouldn't play MMOs because I get really addicted to stuff like this, but this one just feels like I need to try it out eventually, perhaps when things don't seem as broken as they do at the moment.

I don't know why but that sounds rather fun for me, I guess because it will be a nice break from fighting.

I still remain sceptical about the PS3 port of the game. If Square-Enix delivers all the fixes (like they are saying they are going to) then maybe, just maybe, I might be interested in playing it.
