To me it's just a more accurate portrayal of the world that you don't actually have to live in. When the pressure of a social setting is removed people generally act a lot more naturally. As I'm a sociopath, I prefer the general population on the internet a lot more because they're not nearly as boring. For example, I would never have a large scale "forum" type discussion like this with complete strangers in real life because everyone would be a lot more conscious of "if I say this will this person get mad at me?" "I don't want to seem like I'm weird" ect. On the internet nobody fucking cares so they act how they want to, and even if that entails them being a complete asshole at least they aren't boring. And if you don't want to deal with it, you can turn it off.

As far as the actual content goes, if you go on the internet and can't find something you like there's something wrong with you.

I don't find it to be a terrible place. I've met some really great people here. It's only terrible if you make it that way. And if you go to those sites...

The internet has become another world where I can walk, talk and make friends in. Where I can strive to make some good difference on the people or my surroundings. It's just all done in a very different way then the real world in which we live. I imagine it as if I had the ability to teleport. Websites are stores, and to get to them I teleport to them, then start my activity.

:D
That's a cool way to look at it :)

OT: To me the internet is a vast wasteland with pockets of awesome interspersed. A place of great opposites. Great intellectuals and complete morons. Beauty and perversity. Community and loneliness. I love seeing other peoples perspectives on things. I love knowledge and the internet can be a great place to help grow that. It is also an awful time waster. :\
