The Witcher demo does play well on this laptop I'm using, I just want to know if that means the enhanced edition will work as well. The main reason I'm asking this is because the laptop uses integrated intel graphics. I do not want people to be posting posts such as intel integrated graphics suck. I'm not a graphics whore, the game looks fine and the frame rate is fine, I just want to know if anything about the enhanced edition is different enough that it may not work even though the demo does.

Oh specs.

Not sure of the CPU but it certainly does seem fast enough I think it is an intel dual core above 2.0 whatever. The ram is 4gb.

Mainly posting here because it is the only site bothered signing up for and this seems the most appropriate board.

Hard telling. I pass all recommended requirements to run the game, yet it's choppy as hell no matter what the settings are. I don't know if it's a problem with the Steam version or what.

Well, I lower the resolution a bit and have it on medium settings for better frame rate for the demo. (I do not have the option to put anti-analising on if that is important.) I don't mind the lower resolution. The demo so far is working fine with the settings I choose. I read on some forums that later parts in the game have much slower framerates. I dint' know if the demo gets that far or not.

Edit. Whoops.

Yea. If the demo is good I don't see any reason the full game shouldn't.

The first Witcher was on the same engine that Dragon Age Origins was on since CD Projekt didn't have the budget of a AAA game to make their own.

The Witcher 2, following the success of the first, has a bigger budget and as such they are making their own engine.

If I'm not mistaken and that is true, then the first game wouldn't really be a good benchmark for testing if The Witcher 2 will run well.

The "Recommended" specs are usually a good idea of what the minimum (the supposed "Minimum" specs are usually bullocks) you should need but it isn't a visual experience of course.

Recommended:
OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
Processor: Intel or AMD Quad-Core
Memory: 3 GB (Win XP), 4GB (Win Vista/Win 7)
Graphics: GeForce 260 (1 GB) or Radeon HD 4850 (1 GB)
DirectX®:
Hard Drive: 16GB
Sound:
Oh, I'm sorry for being unclear I"m mainly talking about buying the e first witcher NOT the second one. Sorry if I was unclear.

If the demo runs fine you should be able to play it fine. In the last chapter, though I've noticed the game gets more graphic intensive (more characters on screen) but if you can run the demo, all that probably happen is it'll stutter a bit.

Pretty much what everyone said in this thread. The game will probably lag a bit, but that's because it's just coded poorly. The sequel looks like it has a lot more Polish. :D

lol at the pun. well with the sequal from some of the stuff I read on escapist news article it seems there is a very good chance that Witcher 2 will be ported to consoles eventually. The sequel even looks like it would play well with a controller.

Yeah, you should be fine. The "extended edition" is basically just a better and more thorough translation + better voice acting.

I'm not sure if the demo was updated to the Enhanced Edition, but the EE patch vastly improved performance for the game as well as cutting the load times down to something reasonable. So if you can run the demo, the game itself should be just fine.

Might get some slowdown in the later parts of the game. The Witcher gets pretty intense later on compared to the starting areas.

And for reference The Witcher does not use the Dragon Age engine, it actually uses the old Aurora engine used to power Neverwinter Nights. Outdated tech even when the Wither was first released, but then they were a small developer on a budget so I imagine it was the best they could get. Glad they're finally rid of it and using their own custom engine however, the Aurora engine was just holding them back!

If you like it go for it but let me warn you. I loved it at first but got reeeaaaaally bored with it. I'm not trying to dissuade you from buying it but it gets veeery slow. Anyway I have the CD and it runs well, but I also have a super gaming rig so... yeah, you should be able to play it fine enough, although some areas might choke up a bit.

I like western rpgs quite a bit usually. But I gues i'm odd. liked fallout 1 and 2, Arcanum, Dragon Age origins, Dark Sun Shattered Lands, Planescape: Torment, Jade Empire, Star WArs KOTOR 1 and 2, but I never managed to beat Baldur's Gate 2 which I found boring. But come to think of it I did end up beating and finding fun Two Worlds 2 and playing Divinity 2 now. lol

I also read a book that had a bunch of short stories which I think was the first Witcher book and liked it. So, I'm pretty sure I will like the game.

If you can run the demo okay, the full game shouldn't be too much to handle.

I bought it a while ago but never got around to playing it until last week because other games kept side tracking me. The Witcher 2 looked great so I booted up the first game to beat in in preparation for the second coming out soon; already started chapter 3 (prologue, 5 chapters, epilogue).

The game has pretty good writing and the story is interesting thus far. The game does like to bog you down with a metric fuck ton of side quests, but a good thing about that is that a good 70% of those side quests compliment the actual narrative and really help develop things while the remaining quests are just extra stuff that are just there to flesh out the world or to give you an exp boost.

The thing that gets most people is that it has a slow start and the combat is pretty boring at start. Later on the combat isn't so bad but I'm glad they revamped it in the second one. Alchemy is pretty easy to use but important.

If you can overlook some of the blemishes that the game has, it is really good if you like RPGs in general. A lot of the set backs of the game (technical wise) are probably due to the game being a "budget" game and all, but damn did they do a great job.

I found the demo fun from the little bit I played of it (wasn't really paying that much attention and just rushing though to see if it worked okay got to chapter one and just going to random places iwthout apying attention and it seemed fun) and actually thought the graphics were good. They look better than some recent xbox 360 games to me. I wonder if I should try playing the entire demo before buying the game though, I mainly got the demo to see if the game worked and it did. Just was wondering if there was anything particular about the enhanced edition that would make the requirements different than the demo.

Much like everyone else I would agree, that if you can run the demo, you can run the game.

However, one caveat to consider. It has always been my experience with any PC I am running the game on, that the further you get into the game, the more glitchy and lag filled it becomes.

So playing the introductory chapters may be no problem, but you "MIGHT" find some issues with trying to progress in later chapters. Not really sure why that is, but I suspect its a lack of proper optimization with the game. But who knows, maybe its just me.

Anyway... enjoy the game, its actually fairly good once you are able to start ignoring the non plot relevant sex cards. Honestly at many stages Its better than Dragon age. Perhaps not overall, but its certainly able to hold its own against DA

Enchanced edition should operate fine because it allows you to run the specs on a number of levels. Just turn it down if you lose framerate.
