can zombies like... communicate with each other? like with smells or noises or something? what do you think?? i would guess them moaning sounds don't translate as a way of communication... more like just a noise of pain cause they're dead. i'm not sure. get back to me cause when the zombie apocolypse does come, at least we'll have some idea of how to figure out what they're saying, giving us a head start ^_^

No, they do not communicate. Except for the moan, to call more zombies. That's it.

I theorise they share a hive mind based on telepathy with some kind of all controlling super zombie at the centre. It becomes easier to communicate with each other when there are more in a close proximity as the telepathic waves to the hive mind are stronger

They're driven by their hunger, and I guess they hunt as a pack. They'll work together for a common target, then probably kill eachother for it. You'd have to rely on fierce animal psychology to interpret their actions.

Anyone think it's sad that i've managed to work out what makes a zombie tick?

i dont think they would be able to communicate with each other as the only reason they just kill is that its the only thought the brain can come up with to survive. So if they can only think about killing i doubt they have the motor functions to translate words amd sounds.

Well, according to Doomsday Arcade [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/doomsday-arcade/839-Episode-14] zombies can communicate with frikin' flowers, so surely that means that not only can they communicate with their own kind, but they infact have a higher level of communication than humans?

No. The moan serves to attract other zombies, but this moan is uttered whenever they spot prey, and zombies only flock to the sound because; well, the flock to ANY sound, so although one zombie means more zombies, there isn't any 'communication'.

Thinking it's sad that you've managed to work out what makes undead creatures with less brain than dinosaurs tick? No, it's impressive :D

Nah, they don't have the brain capacity for communication, except for the Zombie moan to attract other zombies to their prey when sighted of course.

if they communicated they wouldn't be proper zombies imo. The zombie moan isn't even a form of communication i think. Its those zombies reacting to sensing something that moves, and other zombies come to that because its a noise

Which zombies are we talking here? Because some are limited to using their moans to attract others, while others... let's just say they need to send more paramedics.

No they don't. This is made quite clear by Max Brooks. The moan may appear to be some form of communication, but in reality, it's just a reflex. They moan when they see a meal. Basically, the other zombies respond to sound, so the moan attracts them. Basically it's an accidental dinner bell.

Unless your in the Return of the Living Dead universe. Those zombies are basically people, except you can't kill them, and they want to eat your brain to relieve the pain of death, if only for a moment. They kill a group of paramedics and use the radio to call for more. They lie in wait in the bushes, and attack as a massive group when the authorities arrive. We would be so boned if those zombies ever happened. Burning them just makes what makes them zombies rain from the sky, bringing dead everything back to life.
