The game doesn't need much explanation. Just point and shoot, all weapons are fair game except rocket launchres (they do suck), but certain classes can improve on certain weapons, still it's perfectly fine to use snipers as a Soldier or something. If you can't beat enemies, go back to lower level one's.

Also... CIRCLE STRAFE.

This is the best way to deal with skags.
Nah. Wait for the jump, shotgun blast to the face, done. Except for Alpha Skags, don't just circle strafe with Alpha Skags, also bloody RUN!! Especially when you try to fight an almost endless amount of them. But I still won! Turned to be about 15 of em.
I have a level 50 Lilith and Roland, and have always found circle strafing the best way to deal with Alpha Skags, Badass Skags, Bad Mutha Skags, Bad Mutha Poison Skags...

If you time your jumps right they'll never even hit you.

Unless, as you mention... there are huge groups of them. Like in that annoying cave... it gets a bit cheap at times.

I just got my siren to lvl 50 and i have to admit that as soon as you're able to daze your enemies by shooting them the game becomes too easy untill the second playthrough. otherwise borderlands is a thoroughly good game.

Try out soldiers first if you're good with FPSes. sadly, you WILL have trouble with someone called "bone-head" i garauntee.
Only if you are stupid and try to take him down at level 7 like I did.

Any, Soldier is a damn good class. Like it a lot more than Siren, but Berserker is also pretty excellent. The best tip I can give (still haven't beaten it, been dividing my time among like 5+ games) is SNIPER RIFLES ARE YOUR FRIENDS!

Also, using a knife to kill a badass skag is a fun way to waste time and train yourself at dodging

But is it more satisfying than to watch the poor guy rush towards you, thinking he can kill you, and BLAM shoot him in the face when he thínks he has you and watch his mutilated corpse fly over you? Pff, noooo!

It's a lot better when playing with friends, in my opinion.
Indeed. The loot is a huge step up.

Rocket launchers suck unless you specialize in them. Lvl 50 blaster berserker has a launcher that does 1342x6 damage.

EDIT: With TEN rockets per salvo.

my advice.. keep this bookmarked or print it out to keep with the game: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Special_Weapon_Effects

any weapon that has red writing has special effects that can decide whether or not to use them or not. This effect is never mentioned in the game, so you could end up passing up a perfectly awesome weapon. My favorite is this: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Volcano . Probably the best sniper rifle available in the game!

When you get to the point in the game where you get the "Another Piece of the Puzzle" mission, Before you complete it, go back to Old Haven and check out the green shack out behind the city. the Door will slide open and take you to a hidden basement with a few bandits inside, as well as some weapons and lockers.

And when you get to Old Haven, make sure to check all around the City. there are a total of 5 weapon containers. 4 on the rooftops and one in a door opened by the broken claptrap when you fix him up. you can make easy money by collecting them, selling them, exiting and saving the game, and repeating this.

If you ever find that you have too little space in your inventory, you can walk a little distance, drop a few items, go back, and collect what you couldn't grab. repeat this until you get to the nearest shop.

Anything I need to know? I've seen the general way the game plays, and I've heard rocket launchers suck, but that's about it.
They don't suck that much. You just shouldn't expect to hit anything more than ten feet away. You should still keep a good one handy for bosses.
