Indeed, pretty much 90% of it is done by people with no idea what art is, who have too much junk laying around with a welder, or who seem to be totally colour blind...

What do you think of abstract art/paintings? Do they still count as real art? Do they make you think, or leave you bored? And do you think it takes more or less skill to do an abstract painting than to paint a picture from real life?
Speaking only for myself, most of the time I don't "get" abstract art. But every once in a while I do and those are some good moments.

But mostly I don't ponder it very much.

ON the whole, I'm not a fan of abstract art. Works such as those by Salvador Dali just confuse me. I'm a fairly logical, think-inside-the-box kinda person, so all this lateral crazy stuff just doesn't do it for me. I prefer simplicity in layers; something with a blatant meaning, then with deeper meanings the more you ponder it.

If that made any sense at all...

I like fractals and geometric forms.
That's were my liking of abstract art ends.
Just a few meaningless, random blotches of colour don't inspire me at all.

I like a lot of stuff by Glenn Brown, some of it's weird, some of it's beautiful.

I prefer expressing myself through my cooking, but I gotta respect people who put their time and effort into creating art of any kind. My ex was a phenomenal painter who dabbled in abstract art and was fairly good at it. So while I may not understand it, I gotta respect it.
