One time I named Cloud "Like totally," because I wanted to see Sephiroth talk like a valley girl, only to find out that Sephiroth only actually says Cloud's name a couple of times in the whole game... oh well, at least the other characters were all talking like airheads.

Also, one of my friends likes to name his main characters "durr..." because it makes all the NPCs sound like retards.

I named my Halo profile 'A pink fairy' just because it sounds humiliating to get killed by one. A friend of mine just called his profile 'squirrels'. Not really amusing, but freaky beyond belief: I named my female Jedi in KOTOR Helena, which was the name of Bastilla's mother. This was the first time I even discovered there was a sidequest having to do with her mom too, so I was slightly surprised to see an NPC with my character's exact name.

I once ran around in Team Fortress 2 with my name set to WOOPWEE. Just listening to people trying to get my attention was priceless.

"Gah, this Pyro is annoying! Hey, uh...WOOPWEE...Come help?"

On Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, I had a tendency to forget which allies I had already collected, which necessitated that I get rid of some of them at some point. I figured that I may as well do it in a way that would earn more XP, so I started setting their AI to offensive and then proceeding to forget about them. Hence, because their function was to attract foes and eventually be eliminated, I started naming them Bait, BaitII, BaitIII, and so forth; which naturally led to such monikers as Jailbait, Masterbait, Ratbait, and the like.

And of course, there was that one time on British Legends that I unintentionally abused the naming feature (my name there is the same as my name here without the numbers, and apparently not many people can pronounce it; which apparently led to an argument between two other players about how it was pronounced)

Naming all of the characters "Bob" in Final Fantasy games yields some interesting situations and dialog.

"BOB and BOB race toward Narshe while protecting Banon... But what of BOB, who was swept away by the raging waters? And how is BOB faring after having penetrated the Empire's defenses in South Figaro?"

BOB: "It's gonna blow! Let's go, Bob!"
BOB: "Bob! Can't you do something?"
BOB: "Not a damn thing."
BOB: "Bob! Please don't die! You can't die! There's still so much
I want to tell you!"
BOB: "I know, Bob......"

Abuse of the naming function on games? Well, Martha Stickytwat from Fallout 3 and Peadophile Shepard from Mass Effect will both tell you that I do

I named all characters in every game after boobs, or "tits" if you will.

Especially on Civilization Revolution and the other Civilization games.
T'was was one hell of a battle on "Titty Planes", North of "Nipple Creek" and east of "Mount Sweaterpuppies".
You've jsut rekindled my interest in playing Civ:Rev solely so I can do this.
wow, now I want to play it again... sadly I sold it, so I guess my mighty nation of pantsless in Civ4 will keep me occupied.

I love it, when I move my mouse over my boarders it says "100%" pantsless, or some other percent of the population of pantsless people.

For a long time, I couldn't find my Oracle of Ages game, so I went online to find the code that would allow me to play through with the spiffy stuffs in Oracle of Seasons...
Lets just say, it involved a profane way of saying, "Copulation."

I would have looked up an alternative code, but it was a long drive to Canada...

Still, I named cute little Link, "Kratos" in the Minish Cap so that I could imagine the spartain being yelled at by an angry bird-hat. Hehe...

And its not really abuse, but I used to name my favorite fire female pokemon, "Amaterasu" since the release of GSC.
Its just annoying to have to explain to people that Amatarasu is the Japanese sun goddess, not just some spiffy, painting wolf.

[small]Why did I say, "spiffy" so much?[/small]

I always named RED XIII "Nanaki" because thats his real name. So at one part in FFVII he would say: "Im called Nanaki, but my real name is Nanaki." wich cracked me up back then.

Ah, random profile names. So much fun:

Cpt. Asshat
The Friginator
Popcorn Butterballs
Ballz McGee (legendary Dutch conquerer in AoE3)
The Legendary Blue Sock
Shoot the Moon (band name)
Chainsaw Avenue (band name)
Assfuck (rival in Pokemon Crystal, I mean, c'mon, he is a JERK)
Joysticks of Flaming Death

I forgot all of my Halo naming abuse from when I played online a couple years ago. Let's see, there was SARS, a tree, AIDS, a n00b, nobody, God. I'm sure there was more, I just can't think of them.

"... was splattered by a tree" will always crack me up.

when i was small, i named link on ocarina of time "navi" and "zelda"

playing through the games, the conversations were hilarious and slightly bizarre. mabye if we coud get further then the forest temple at that age, it would have been even better.
