Do this Ubisoft or I will kill two hostages every hour.

[sub]I'm aware I've said the exact same thing every time an AC3 thread appears. They just won't listen.[/sub]
Only two by the hour? *****, sounds like you are not even trying.
Kill four and strap yourself with C4 so that no one tries to cross you.

EDIT: Yes I know that I am a very disturbed person...

I've played AC 1 and 2 but I skipped Brotherhood and Revelation. Do they add anything significant to the story or can I just jump to AC3?
You definitely need to play Brotherhood and Revelations or at the very least, watch as many story related YouTube videos as possible. The Desmond storyline alone will be very foreign if you are only making the transition from AC2 to AC3.

Back on topic, I too am concerned about the saturation of AC products. Who knows, maybe Ubisoft is trying to wrap up the AC series before the next gen of consoles.

The reason is you're using hostages and lets be honest who cares about those. Here I'll start you off properly here are some kittens

OT: I look forward too it, they were all pretty fun, but a change in scenery and characters will be welcome.

Another one? What do they bust two out a year?
This is the reason I stopped after AC2, they're going to turn out like COD

Surely the fly in your ointment is that Jennifer Hale isn't British? If you're going to have a British protragonist, which I assume you would in London, then surely you should get a British voice actor? There's not many things worse than North Americans attempting English accents, especially London accents.

They said that they had been "Working on it for three years." Does that mean that Brotherhood and Revelations were side projects, or are they counting them as iterations?
Either way, I'll probably get it because I love the gameplay.
Ubisoft Montreal has been working on it for three years. They're the one's who have made the numbered releases. Brotherhood and Revelations were outsourced to all other Ubisoft studios.

In other words Ubisoft Montreal is the good studio.

I'd usually agree with you, but Jennifer Hale does a brilliant English accent.

The cynic in me thinks AC3 may be Desmond's game, taking place in the present or a not-too-distant-future version of the present (if that makes any sense). I hope I'm wrong though; I'd love to see a game take place in Feudal Japan or, Victorian England as others above have said already.

Im just hoping this one takes place 100% in present day. I'd love to climb buildings in a present day city. Though there is a problem of you having only blades while Abstergo possibly have assult rifles or something.

Now that think about it, fuck it, put it in Japan.

But if they give Desmond a Japanese ancestor, they'll feel compelled to change his face again to look vaguely Japanese :O imagine Adam Sandler doing an offensive Japanese face and thatll be it :/

Aww yeah! I'm super excited. This is supposed to be the last AC game in the trilogy. I don't know what they have planned (I can't read the article at my school because they blocked game informer here), but either way, I'm stoked for a new iteration of one of my favorite series of this generation.

If they just do a game on Desmond in the present, I think that the series might lose something. I loved traveling back in time to kick some ass in the past (heh, that rhymed). I just hope they go the route of WWI or II or a sweet ninja game. French Revolution Paris would be cool too.

How about put in the modern setting this time out?

It's about time Desmond actually takes a proactive role against the Templar forces & begins to attack them directly.

If no one believes you then I'll offer to held kidnap and kill as well just to see this glorious future come to fruition! That's like my three favourite things right there.

OT: I'm actually pretty sick and tired of Assassin's Creed now, which is sad really because the games are always awesome. But nothing really changes between games. Yahtzee had it down when he said that it's just more "faffing about."

But seriously, when the first game came out it was amazing because it was so new and different. Yeah sure, they did a few things badly but overall it was just a really fun game. But now, now I actually groan and feel like it's an obligation to buy the next installment. I'll play it but I won't enjoy it... what's up with that?

AC1: Wow this is great! A bit clunky but I can get past that!
AC2: Can't wait for this! Italy looks great! OMG it plays so much better!
ACB: Oh right, Ezio and Italy again? All right well at least it still plays well.
ACR: Ezio AGAIN? Where are we now? I don't really care. More pointless gameplay... *sigh*

Honestly, I used to be excited to see where the location was and who the assassin was. Now I just don't care. I used to actually wonder how Desmond was going to get out his latest predicament. Now I just don't care.

Brotherhood was a damn good game, the series' peak I would say. But Revelations was unneccesary filler and really shouldn't have been made. I think it's this tedious yearly release schedule that has actually killed the games for me. They just don't feel special any more... just competant and souless.

But a female assassin voiced by Jennifer Hale in Victorian England would stop my bitching right now.

It doesn't say much but here:

Ubisoft today confirmed when it will release Assassin's Creed III this fall.

The game will arrive on October 30, 2012, the publisher said. No other details were announced.

"We will push the title a lot because it's a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years," said CEO Yves Guillemot. "What we have seen is just fabulous."

Ubisoft also said it shipped 7 million copies of Assassin's Creed Revelations so far through December 2011.

I was hoping that they wait a year or two in order to make significant improvements to the series
Trouble is, they've written themselves into a corner with the story.

Something BIG is supposed to happen in December 2012, according to the story. So it makes sense they will want to get the game out before then.
If the game is late, it will make the story significantly less climactic. (Much of Desmond's story supposedly takes place in September 2012)
True, that was my biggest concern for my hopes they would take their time with the game. I suppose in theory they could keep the 2012 story element in if the game was to be released after 2012. However I imagine the impact of the story would be lost after the whole 2012 craze dies down.

That said it did confuse me as to why they didn't make the two games between ac2 and ac3 as spin-offs with only slight connections to the main story line. As at this point the main story has been dragged out over 4 games, but I guess Ubisoft did strike gold with Ezio being such a popular character.
My biggest concern is that Whitney Houston's death will be the biggest thing to happen in 2012. They'll have a hard time working that into a good plot twist. Anything geo/political they can work into the plotline...except for the incredibly lame presidential election coming up...they'd be better off going with Whitney.

I'm looking forward to a new protagonist in a new era. I dig the games but I didn't even pick up the last one just because one a year is a bit much for me to keep up with. Not to discourage them. I know some people take issue with a new sequel coming out yearly but as long as there's enough content and they make money off them, more power to 'em.

I think the next logical step would be revolutionary France. Paris would be badass for an Asscree game. I like the idea of there being a female protagonist. I'd like to see how that would effect Desmond and I think it would lead to enough different side activities to keep things interesting.

Surely they could write in that The Templars where responsible in some form for Whitney's death.

That part doesn't concern me. Dan Brown could make up a plot for that. It's believing that Whiney's death will have far flung repercussions across the future of mankind... that's pushing it a little.

Unless she was an Assassin. But she was more into the crack than the hash.

EDIT: got Night of the Living Baseheads stuck in my head...mostly just the riff from The Grunt repeating over and over. I might need some help.
