If I somehow won the grand prize, I would get a new Xbox, my current Xbox has so many issues, its pretended to red ring, and pretended to give me that one error too. But worst of all is that I can almost never open the disc tray, sometimes takes 10-20 minutes for it to open. And then there is the fact that brand new games will freeze while play, hell I had to borrow my friend's Xbox to play Dead Space 2 because mine simply refused to read the second disc =(
I was also gonna give my old Xbox to my mom, since she wants to play stuff on the kinect if she gets one, and though it may have problems, Im sure mine could handle the rather rare use of a kinect, lol.
You've been a mighty fast clicker. You were firewalled for hammering the site in a manner multiple times a second for several thousand page views (you were actually at the bottom of my list of worst offenders).
It looks like you got caught for hitting it over multiple time periods that together looked like an attack. I've removed the block for now (on everyone who may have been firewalled today - about 7 ip ranges), and will review my records tomorrow.
Psau is super disqualified however. He wrote a crawler that was hitting our user profiles at an egregious rate, and then started trying to use proxies when he got blocked.
Hmm... think I was one of those on the firewall list, couldn't connect for about 2 hours or so... Like Gradiusman I've just been opening multiple tabs at a time. Sorry if it's been causing problems for your server.
Now that I think about it, I may have been blocked too, but I was out and about at the time, I noticed when I woke up at about 2ish I couldn't load the leaderboards or the escapist site at all. For me, I want to get a PS3. I was going to go out and buy a PS3 last month but then I took a look at my life and realized that I really need to start saving up my money so that I can get out and live on my own. So I opened up a Savings account and shoved the majority of my paycheck into it. The very next day I saw this contest and thought maybe I can have my cake and eat it too. I'm not really expecting to win but I do hope all the effort I've put into this will pay off in some way. Luckily if I don't win I still have my PS2 and Wii. And I have access to an Xbox 360 until I start living on my own.
I do hope that 8bit wins out of the 3 people at least.. he tried very hard and is determined plus an awesome User so if anyone deserves to win then it's him..
I have to agree with you on that one there. He was destroying the leader board there for the first few days. Also, I'm with him on the intense urge to play skyrim all day when it comes out. I have a way to play it and a graphics card that costs as much as an xbox so he needs to win this.

Did you just say... Dead Space 2?? Well now, add me to friends list and we can play multiplayer together if you want!! Sweet, another fan of the most awesome series of gaming I have ever played- until Skyrim comes out XD haha. But I love Dead Space.. as you can tell.
Haha I definitely love the shit out of Dead Space 2, and would love to mess around with more of the multiplayer, but I need a gold account first. I've been poor for a while, lol thus why Im taking this contest so seriously, but yea, add me on here if you want, Ill be more easily contacted through this than my Xbox atm, due to how lame it is, lol
I think I'm aiming for the PS3 since I seem to be in a similar boat as Frozengale and won't have access to one in 2 weeks. The game does look awesome, though, and would be cool to have.
My computer can't really handle too many open tabs, mainly because of the video ads, so I have been going profile by profile. Probably why I have been slipping down the board...
Will the people who get disqualified be removed from the leader-board to allow other legitimate users into the top 20? I'm sure there are several people with close scores who are right on the edge of qualifying who would love to know that they're actually or 20th instead of 21st.
A little confusing. You invite the whole world to come hammer your forums for seven days, then you ban everyone who does it well. You may want to put an acceptable use clause in your official rules next time. It is frightfully absent, which is why so many people used every means possible to get badges the quickest.

We use our usual tactics to search things manually and clicking, pretty much exploring on our own trying to find Badges. You on the other hand, used a device or function to instantly get you a much bigger advantage to easily find badges without delay. It's like this for example:
On a game show, we all have to state the right answers whenever asked. We studied, for long hours on end trying to ensure we get the answers right. For you, it's like you have a book right there with you to not only give you the answer, but it even directs you to which page of the answer instantly. That's how it is in this situation at least. Forgive me if I got it all wrong, but that's like cheating in a sense. Just got to do it the hard way to be fair you know?
Out of curiosity, I read the block of text on the rules page and there are two interesting/relevant parts:
1. (Halfway through section 9) "mechanically reproduced entries will be disqualified." I think this can probably apply to the crawlers Psau Mfume and I made. If you take it REALLY literally, maybe a search that doesn't do the actual badge clicking can get around this, but lets not get lawyers involved...
2. (Also in section 9) "Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this Contest, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified. If disqualified for any tampering or abuses, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate Entrant's eligibility to participate in Contest." This is MUCH more relevant, so all you people wearing out your left mouse buttons don't have to worry.
Well. Looks like I missed a lot while I was moving. I almost decided to drop out because I've had a really shitty past couple of days, but now I'm kinda glad I didn't.

The mechanically produced section refers to entering the contest, not to finding or clicking on badges, at least in my interpretation. You could probably call it abusing the contest, but it is so gray it could be argued either way. After all, commercial web-browsers are just inefficient crawlers too, if you consider all the information one click pulls down these days, and all the integrated search functions and plugins available.
In the end you cheated. You didn't look for them yourself like many others who have put hours of hard earned time into doing. Hours and many tabs to get what you yourself had your 'machine' do for you. You can't sit there and be huffy over this because you cheated. You didn't look for them on your own, you had something else do it for you, you just clicked the end result. It's cheating, your out.

My son's sister broke my backwards compatible PS3. Mainly just desperately need a new BluRay player for my son since I don't have very many DVDs for him to watch. But it would also be awesome breaking out the Rock Band/ Guitar Hero again.
Hmm I'm glad I quit, I don't really need a new system,I'm obsessive about taking care of my stuff, haven't had a single one break on me yet *tosses salt over shoulder*
If I won, Id give it to my boyfriend so we can play Borderlands together again.
Though that Xbox thing sounds horrible, but if I had like three Xboxes break on me, Id give up and buy a PS3 next go. It's not like you'll be missing out on many games.

Still, I think the real evidence is that, despite all the sudden profile page opens, there's a clear time gap between opening them and actually going to the badge part of the profile.
Still, I want to get a PS3. And El Shaddai has actually looked like a game I'd really hope I'd get to play at some point in my life. >.>
My sister's been really nostalgic lately for our old Xbox (which died several years ago, sadly) so if I were to win the console, I'd give her my 360. She has a respectable PC, but she's a console gamer at heart, and it would make her squee.
Hopefully as much as when she saw that I had repaired the plush bunny our mother made for her. :3
I've been using this contest as a way to vent my anxiety; there have been a lot of bad stuff lately, (And I just found out that my oven is dying! ) and my sister has been really sick, but her science can't wait any longer, so she had to leave this morning. But her lab has been so sweet to her, one of them left work to come pick her up from the airport- the head of the lab told her to make sure my sister went straight to bed. It looks like her friends are pulling through for her, but I'm so afraid that she's going to push herself and get sick again. I also found out that the dumbass med student who had an eye infection (which he gave to her through use of the telescope) is still in her lab, using everything including the machines without sanitizing anything or even being cleared by a doctor first.
He could have made my sister lose her eye, or lose her kidneys from the powerful meds, or even have downright killed her. He put her out of commission for a month, and could have killed her and doesn't give a shit.
I have that gross feeling of a seething hatred that I really don't like in me.
Still, its nice to have something to go, "Worry about this instead," because this I can afford to lose this, and despite a perfect performance, I can still lose, so its one little thing that will be OK even no matter the outcome.
Aaaaand, that's prolly way farther than you were asking, so... "Hi internet, here's my problems of the day!"
