yeah wtf..... She seems to have be doing something strange. Either she found a loophole or she is just plain cheating. Not to mention the account was made yesterday. Chances that this person are already on the Leaderboard under another name seem pretty high. Does no one else find this the least bit suspicious?

I've made my methods as efficient as possible, but it takes too much time.
This person racking up that many points in a matter of a few hours?

I'd simply like a moderator to ask them what they are doing. If they find it legitimate and plausible, then I'd love to be informed.

Quite annoying this US/Canada citizen thing, meaning many of us will never get a chance at all winning any prizes.. I've been a member of The Escapist for quite some time now, and i think i've only seen one contest where i could actually participate..
My luck then was of course that the prize was then something i did not even want..

I feel that badges are a poor substitute for an xbox/ps3 with a game..

My question is this: when actively participating, what is your average rate of finds an hour? I find it difficult to believe that I am that terribly inefficient.

And going through the users by user search, even when restricting by countries, simply takes far too long to go through by hand with such little yield. There is no benefit to be had from it.

However, part of the issue is that I realize that I fell asleep for a while.
I was supposed to bring my mother some medication an hour ago.
Dammit. -.-

Crushing your hopes, really? I'm pretty you're gonna still be on the leader board. You'll still have a good chance of getting a prize, since you don't have to be on any specific place on the leader board.

I'm periodically checking who's online, but it usually doesn't do much for me. I might be able to squeak my way onto the leaderboard, but when Psau can get as many hits as I have in total in the span of an hour or so it is a little disheartening.

My hopes involved having so many points that the Escapist staff would take pity on me for having no life whatsoever and just give me one of the grand prizes outright, because I know I'm not going to win anything otherwise.

Ok, I'm clicking on everybody's angel badges, but it still tells me that I only have 3 over at the leaderboard. So how does this dude with 500+ have that many then?

I have 53. I am checking "Who's Online", and I've been doing that for about 2 days-ish. This morning when I started again, 500+ dude had half of what he has now. I don't even KNOW how that is POSSIBLE without illegitimate means. Every page of online users I refresh, I'm lucky if I get 2 or more with a fallen angel badge that I haven't gotten yet.

I don't pity anyone on the leaderboard. I pity the rest of us who have less than 25% of the number one slot. I thought maybe it would be possible, but it's taking far too much effort for me to hit 100. I'm not gonna waste my time. xD (Yes, I know this was a very QQ post.)

I last checked the score at around 7:00 AM. She had 259 then.
Now, eight hours later, she has almost doubled that.

How is she possibly getting that many points from the user search? There is only one, perhaps, two results on each page of the hundreds of pages of users.

Seriously. Anyone, go though a few pages of the user search. Specify that you want to look for only users of countries that can participate.
Calculate the rate per hour in which you find users with badges.

I find it impossible to glean that many users in that matter of time from the user search without automation.

I've been averaging 20 per hour. I know that I've spent at least 8 hours on this (that's the low end guesstimate) I know because while I've been searching I've been watching Arrested Development and I'm up to Season 2 Ep 4.

And I average around 3-6 badges for every 80 or so people that I search through. I'm not sure if Psau is cheating or not, maybe she just found a really efficient way. I really don't care as long as I'm on the Leaderboard by Aug 3.

In actuality I think the 20 people on the board right now pretty much have secured their position as long as they put a couple hours into it each day. As each day passes less and less people are qualified to win since they won't be able to have all 4 badges by the end of it. And as our numbers get higher people will become discouraged. So if you are with me on the Leaderboard right now, don't worry 3 of us will most likely be seeing a shiny new PS3/Xbox soon.

Hopefully! I might be missing that last day due to my brother's birthday. I'm just happy I've been able to stay on the leaderborad for so long. Normally I miss out on these contests due to not starting on the first day, or for not being able to concentrate on it for too long, so this has been pretty miraculous for me.

Ahh well you don't have anything to worry about I think. You're in the mid-high range currently, so as long as you keep getting about 10 or more a day you will stay there. Missing a large chunk of the last day probably won't matter to much.

Personally I'm just glad I got so high in the Leaderboards. I highly doubt I will win anything (Universe is not kind to me when it comes to contests) but I'm hoping I can at least dethrone Erana or 8bit for the fun of it

So I just realized I didn't know the chances of winning a grand prize, so I just figured it out. It's a 15% probability of winning one of the three grand prize draws, and a 50% chance of winning a prize at all (obviously).

I've been going through user search and searching each page individually for users in Canada and the U.S., I haven't spent as much time as I could doing it, but I would say I've been rather efficient in skipping anyone that hasn't been on since the 28th of July, and multi clicking badges to make sure I get the point and just going page by page, user by user, Even if you never slept, I don't see how you could get 600, it seems impossible.
