Accidental Shiny Groudon! (Share your similar "OMFG" moments in games.)

About a half an hour ago I was playing my old Ruby version, (Pokemon, for those who don't know) when I got to the Groudon encounter part. as I strolled towards it I mused; "wouldn't it be great if he was shiny?" And he was. in severe amazement at my first legitimate legendary shiny I coerced it to 1 health. (knew it was 1 because I had a free spot in my party) I spent 20 minutes healing my Swampert and trying to use ultra balls on it; but no dice, I then decided I'd use a timer ball. Without any success I said screw it, master ball. I now regret not saving it for Rayquaza later.

There's my story. How about you guys?

In my Heartgold playthrough, I encountered 6 shiny Pokemon in one playthrough. I got a shiny Ho-Oh and a shiny Entei, too. Although I already had the three event shiny's, so the Entei wasn't as exciting.

It was a great playthrough.

My first time in gold, the very first Unknown I stumbled across was a shiny I. I have yet to see another shiny.

Best I ever mustered was a shiny Weedle on Pokemon Gold, I didn't even know what shiny pokemon were, so as I saw this Weedle sparkle in front of me; I thought nothing of it and ran off to get to the next town. I still felt like I've betrayed myself to this day.

Another OMFG moment was when playing the Lost Planet 2 demo with 3 random strangers, never played the 1st or 2nd. So as I saw this 6 legged slug freak, I was determined to climb on top of it's back and tame it Rodeo style. Exeunt weird-ass snail legs via river, so I sprinted up it's body as it reached to the peak of it's nose dive and jumped off the gastropod's flicking tail; landing on shore with all the grace of an foppish acrobat. I only thought action films could convey that sort of exhilaration (plus I'm easily impressed): then stumpy shins ate me some time later.

I just had an "OMFG" moment last night while fighting the Legendary Deathclaw in Fallout: New Vegas. After three unsuccessful attempts at killing it I got knocked down to barely any health by the two Deathclaws that were in the room with. I healed and even though I didn't think I would survive I went at it anyway. After spamming the Grenade Machinegun and blasting it with my slug-loaded Hunting Shotgun it was down to almost no health. It tried to run away but I charged after it, went into VATS and unloaded one shell into it's back, downing it. I felt so satisfied after that.

Sadly, the only shiny Pokemon I've ever gotten were Spinaraks in Gold/Silver/Crystal.

The first Gligar I ever saw was a yellow shiny one and I ran because I just assumed that was it's normal colour, I caught the second one I saw because I thought that was the special one. There was much facepalming when I realised.

I've also found a Pink Zubat, a Pink Wooper and a Green Onix. (Not in the same playthrough)

other then that was solo sword killing an entire team in infection mode of halo... heared everyone lose there shit on the mikes when i slaughtered em all... accused me of hacking

I have yet to encounter a shiny Pokemon.

If I ever find a shiny Ditto, I will name him "Play-Doh."

Only then will I be truly happy with life and existence.

First gym in Pokemon Black. That Watchog had knocked out my whole party, save for my Munna. Watchog kept using Hypnosis - and missing. Munna knocked it out with two Psybeams. Cue me going 'omfg what just happened here'. This is the most recent experience; I've had several moments like this, in various games.

I can't say I ever met a shiny legendary pokemon (except for the three given away in January), but in Pearl version, I managed to capture Palkia in the first turn with a Quick Ball.

In Xenosaga III (horribly underrated and horribly rushed series), I killed the final boss in five rounds, thanks to some generous boosting skills, a heaping helping of Erde Kaiser Sigma (that bastard was a huge pain to get, but well worth the effort), and some incredible crits and defense breaks.

Other games I have said that in would be the Elder Scrolls Oblivion for some moments in there...

I'm excited. the list is growing.

in my Heart Gold. This is out of some... what is it? 30 pokemon per box... i have... five just eggs and a sixth box with eighteen more in. So thats... 168 eggs. And so far i hatched... 70 of them, so i found four (remember, odds of shiny by breeding is 1 in 64):

Larvitar (girl, adamant, says she likes to thrash around. I named Aunt Flo just to be a jerk)

Murkrow (male, unfortunately. I need a female one for the theme)

Swablu (trying to get all the dragons i can since its probably going ot turn upside down on the smogon lists)

and another eevee, whihc i'm going to turn into a Flareon

More will come, cause I found a few, but I need to check my Heart Gold game. Though it should be said, on all those games I had at least 250+ hrs of gameplay, and of that... probably the average is 25-50 beating all the gyms, the rest is just screwing around and EV training. I know on my pearl I had 400+ hrs. On my HG I've got close to 600hrs

I was playing a solo mission in Monster Hunter Unite, where you have to fight a Gypceros and a Purple Gypceros simultaneously. I had accidentally equipped my lightning sword, so most of my attacks were utterly useless. It was a war of attrition, when suddenly the normal one got in the way of the purple one's charge and got killed. To top it all off, with seconds on the clock, my Felyne companion leaped towards it, swung its sword once, and killed it just like that. So my kill got stolen TWICE.

Rayquaza can be soft-resetted 'til the cows come home, but that Shiny Groudon was a 1 in roughly 9000 chance!

I'm a boring person, so the best I can muster here is a time on Minecraft, when I was building a little beach house made out of wood and sandstone. The theme was going to be 'A fool builds his house on sand'. I was digging at the nearby beach when all of a sudden I tapped a sand block that caused a huge, HUGE, cave-in, revealing a gaping black hole right next to my house that has served as a steady source of minerals and cave exploration ever since.

Most recent one for me:

Playing Infection on the Sword Base map in Halo: Reach. I was an infected and running along one of the upper walkways on the map. I saw the last man standing running on a balcony below me. Deciding it couldn't hurt to try, I jumped off the walkway. I landed right on top of the guy and sworded him, winning the game.
