All comments about "sexbots" aside, understand that such does not have to be the only function of a unit that is so enabled. The EVA unit that EDI took over seemed to be intended for a wide range of deep cover assignments as well as general infiltration. I'd imagine seduction and similar things fell within the intended mission parameters. It certainly wouldn't be original in science fiction. "Sheen" from Piers Anthony's "Adept" series is fully functioning sexually, and she was basically sent as a bodyguard unit.
The real question is why EDI would even use an infiltration unit for combat missions instead of something [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9l9wxGFl4k] more [http://onlyhdwallpapers.com/wallpaper/ghost_in_the_shell_haw-206_think_tank_haw_yeah_desktop_1024x768_wallpaper-62687.jpg] useful. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_xOhsfDYhY] It doesn't even look like it would work for infiltration without the skin. And we're not even getting into the question of why she'd remote-control one killbot as opposed to, say, fifty.

It's the equivalent of going into battle with a battered fleshlight.

Therumancer said:
The only thing that makes me wonder about this is that with the flesh covering gone, I'm wondering how comfortable it would be with EDI, I suppose the actual sex organ has to be designed beyond the superficial to allow for comfortable and convincing penetration, but the rest of her is a hard endoskeleton. Of course I also figured that she followed the human countour too closely given that she was walking around as an endoskeleton, I'd expect the proportions to be a bit off since it was designed to fit a human profile with a covering that no longer existed.... but all of this is probably overthinking it.
Oh no, the Escapist is turning into the BSN!

Well, for one EDI wound up taking control of EVA due to engaging in an online battle with it while searching it's memory banks. EDI didn't initially set out to obtain a body. Then there are also the social aspects of it, EDI being an AI is doing the whole "Data" thing in trying to become more human, and she is in love with Joker. The body she is using is better for social purposes. It's also unknown how many robots she could divide herself between without lowering the effectiveness of the Normandy, not to mention the issue of where they would all be kept. She's also engaging in relatively small scale engagements, and wanting to do things like walk around the Citadel. A bloody Dreadnaught wouldn't work.

I mean it's not perfect, but the whole thing is written well enough to be acceptable. I get the impression the idea is supposed to be fairly similar to say "Andromeda" more than anything, which is probably where they got the idea from.

Also, the robot in question isn't exactly weak, it pretty much went Terminator on Ashley/Kaiden, has built in protective fields, decoy projectors, and similar things, as far as mecha goes it's not exactly a weak unit. Capabilities wise I might actually back EDI against your average Dreadnaught (which is actually kind of extreme cybernetic conversion more than a robot) and definatly against ED-409 (who was taken out by a rocket launcher). Explosive decoys, armor melting flame blasts, techno hacking... and then weapon use, not to mention extreme mobility. There are more powerful robots, but she's quite formidible by any standards, there are very, very few serious science fiction settings where anyone would laugh off EDI's combat capabilities. Those Takinoma things from Ghost In The Shell might be able to get her though, unless I'm remembering them wrong I seem to remember they cloak, have mono webbing, and are capable of breaking the sound barrier going full speed with their hover jets, not to mention the machine guns (which are pretty powerful, but don't seem all that great against armor since they tend to just bounce off most hard targets or other tanks and serious warbots... but would probably pack enough punch to hurt EDI to be fair since while durable she's perfectly damagable by military grade small arms... unlike the other two I think these could reliably get a drop on her she probably wouldn't have the manuverability advantage, due to the speeds. I'd imagine these could handle the decoys too, though I'd imagine ED-409 or th Dreadnaught would have a hard time with that).

I'd also point out that with the general ban on AI it seems like people are nervous about autonomous systems to begin with. I don't remember seeing any kind of unmanned war machines bigger than a support drone that I can remember... well excepting The Geth and Reapers of course. It's not like there are tons of war droids out there for EDI to choose from, and it's not like the Alliance is lined up to bankroll deathbot bodies for the Unshackled AI which is supposed to be a secret.. she's pretending to be Joker's mobility assistance Mech.

Robocop, and Ghost In The Shell use some fairly differant concepts on what direction technological development went in.

Indeed I'd guess that EVA was kind of unique, being something special The Illusive Man was holding onto, I'd imagine there aren't many infiltration bots running around out there at all. It might not be totally unheard of, but it's not something people, even in secret labs and such, are apparently prepared for because it basically doesn't happen. That's the impression I get at any rate.

Sure Bioware, it's good to listen to your fans but seriously, you can't just opt to make some freaky new ending based on one letter.

Maybe if I wrote 500 similar letters posing as 500 different 13 year olds, this could all have been avoided.

How bioware have fallen you will missed

It's like they have hit rock botton and decided "hey we can go further down then this" so they decided to stop using backhoes and started using nukes.

I can't even tell what that's an image of.

Also, that child was stupid. That's a stupid letter.
I believe that is EDI's camel toe D:

Funny, didn't even know she had a vagina.
Of course EDI has a Vagina!

So very true. I hadn't considered that she wouldn't want to abandon her vagina when she assumed a new form.

It's sad really. Terribly, ickily, frighteningly bad. If they were going to use a "child's" idea why couldn't they just, oh say, get a time machine and go talk to the young lady who wrote "The Outsiders". While I can't remember her exact age, or name, she was between 13-16 when she penned that book.

Casey Hudson's having that child's letter on his door as a touchstone to remind him of the fans, and their love of the series, is highly admirable. However, actually using said idea is just ridiculous. I mean, what's the point of having a paid, professional writing staff if you are just going to rip off a child's poorly conceived idea? The word that comes immediately to mind is; Unprofessional.

Oh good lord, who the hell thought robotic camel toe was a good idea? That's it, from now on I'm not taking EDI out on missions. She can stay on the Normandy with Joker and think about what she's done. Actually no that's probably worse. Shepard needs Joker's complete attention on flying the ship, and the moment he notices that? Yeah I'm pretty sure his attention is going to be...elsewhere.

The child thing though is just plain dumb. I seriously feel sorry for the writing staff if this and the whole Casey writing the ending thing are actually true.

You fool boaq, you FOOLISH FOOL. Everyone's just going to be sharing EDI camel toe pictures back and forth while weirdos like me hide in the nearby bushes wearing a disguise.

This made me spit my water all over my desk... When the hell did EDI pick up a gun and join the fight? Or pick up a body that resembles an Asari? I can't wait for a no-Origin crack to come out so I can get this game.

... you mean the thread right?

Cause...
those images were from ME2, not ME3.

Whoa, a lot of ME3 threads these days.

Regarding the letter. At least he listened to fans, even though it was just a fan, and the letter was stupid.

No way... I beat ME2 three times and not once did EDI posses an Asari. I was referring to the picture in the OP, someone said it was EDI, who I remember as being the lovable vag-faced hologram stuck on the Normandy II.

I meant the images I posted were from ME2 - of EDI's holographic talking vagina face.

The OP's images were most certainly from ME3. And that's not an Asari. More I shall not say - play the game and find out for yourself.

Oh, okay, that I know.

Ahh, alright, just looks kind of like one with a normal head.
