I wish I could make a 'press x to not die' joke here but damn it, I'm not evil enough...
I sincerely hope he gets better and stays happy

I will pray hard to the spider-god Anansi. Hopefully he can trick the lupus out of him.

Jokes aside, I really hope he will get better, I don't know him, but he seems like the last person you want dead. I'm not religious in that sense, but I believe that God every now and then helps a bit through the power of luck and coincidence. Hopefully he will look down at your friend and help him.

My sincerest thoughts go out to him. Make sure to show him this thread and let him see how many people are supporting him. (Get a laptop, or bring an iPod Touch. or borrow a friend's....)

Ace! Get well soon!

And as DH says, can we Sticky this?
We can't officially sticky the thread, but if people have links to great posts or reviews that Ace made, or even picture of the guy, then post 'em and keep the thread bumped!

i was given some great advice once on matters like this when my best friends brother died.
the advice was, in situations such as these the relatives will do their best to be helpful and supportive, but they will eventually run out of sympathy, as his best friend it is your job to continue to stand by him when this begins to happen.

i hope he pulls through soon.

For those of you who don?t know the escapist [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/ace_of_something] called Ace_of_Something[/a] I think he?s most known on this board for his [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.78482?page=1] ask a cop[/a] thread and always bringing up the unique law enforcement point of view. He is also my best and oldest friend, we?ve been friends for 20 years since a faithful day in 4th grade when he beat up a kid who was picking on me for my ?Indian girl hair?. He has had my back ever since than and is one of the most loyal, good natured, and kind-hearted people you will ever meet. If he got hit by a car he'd apologize and make sure the driver was okay before tending his massive wound. That's the kind of guy he is.
I wanted those on the board to know he was admitted to the hospital yesterday after having a seizure then not being able to stand up. I am not a doctor so forgive me If I?m getting this stuff muddled or oversimplifying but I?m trying my best.
Ace has [a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systemic_lupus_erythematosus]lupus[/a] and it is currently attacking his Neurosystem. From what I understand it?s eating his Peripheral nervous system. He cannot move his legs and arms because they?re backed up with ?toxins?. Although, he is making progress with his arms already. Able to move most of the fingers on his right hand. He is in good spirts saying 'hey if i can move my fingers I can finish up demon's souls while I'm here right?' They have to put shunts in and drugs and all kinds of horrible things in hopes that they can stop his own immune system from paralyzing him permanently.
I ask that if you?re the type who prays please do.

that does sound a lot like lupus, but I have never heard of seizures going along with it, unless something has messed with his brain. [Ive had seizures since I was 5, which stopped my freshman year in Highschool.]

also, there is a toxin that the body normally releases while your asleep to place you in a semi-paralytic state, I dont know the name of it but if he had seizures aswell, you might want to get a few scans done to make sure everything is okay up there. it might be possible that his body is pumping that same toxin which is causing his paralysis.

I am not a doctor, Im just making assumptions/suggestions.

Although I dont pray.....often, Ill try to put in a few good words with my gods.
Like I said, Sadly, I'm not a doctor I'm a Bouncer/Student Teacher. I am probably getting symptoms mixed up or misunderstood. Wish I could be more informative.

I've just been given a forum warning for saying that they should put their faith in medicine. No one has quoted my comment, or even complained in this thread. Then we get this asshole's remark.

Honestly, if I get banned for advising people to be supportive of Hospital staff whilst this insensitive joker is overlooked, I won't want to be a member of the Escapist. It is not the only forum I'm signed up to anyway.

I hope ace_of_something gets well soon, he sounds like a good person.

Prayer won't help. Put your faith in medicine and the often uncredited efforts of Doctors, Nurses and Hospital Cleaners getting rid of MRSA.
I'm totally in the position to send him medicine. And I know where he's located, too.[/sarcasm]

Medicine goes before prayer, which is what I'm sure the OP is doing, but prayer never hurts.

Wait, what? Sorry if I said something offensive, but what makes me an asshole?

He acknowledged that he was making a joke.

Perhaps people didn't want to start a big fight in this thread when you posted.
That seems the most logical reason for you not being quoted.

In your post, it really seemed like you were saying anyone who prayed for him was being a moron.

It's interesting and kind of saddening that most of the people here are
a) non-religious
b) anti-joking

I'm not saying we should joke seriously, about someones illness, that's horrible. But from what I've heard of this guy, he would take the jokes in his stride and they would encourage him with the knowledge that we're behind him. If he can keep his humour in a situation like this, he's more man than I can ever hope to be. I'll ask God to send you a quicktime, ace_of_something, and you just hit that X button with all you've got.
