I was for a while but once I got the Platinum on inFamous I was tired, drained and bored so I left trophy hunting alone.

I don't really get the whole fascination with hunting for achievements to beat.

I mean I've beaten a fair few on my games, but I never actively try to get them, I consider them odd little bonuses for doing the occasional cool thing by accident. Which makes me feel more impressed by the things I do in games.

On one hand, I can play a game without achievements.

On the other, I once did an entire No Mercy campaign holding my medkit, firing one pistol shot at a CI on the way to the helicopter.

What? I wanted Safety First, Unbreakable and Akimbo Assassin in one campaign :D

Yeah incredibly. And on a side note, if anyone has a guide on how to get all the escapist badges, you'd be helping me a lot.

I go for amusing achievements. So when I'm playing Uncharted 2, I might spend a couple of games running around with a propane tank, just to get the BBQ medal, or I might try beating MGS (any of them) in three hours or less without being seen and without killing anyone (I almost pulled it off once, MGS4, I beat in 3hours 15 minutes... but I got pissed at tranqed frogs falling off the ceiling and breaking their necks, so the last hour of gameplay I killed fucking EVERYONE).

Mostly I just get them by accident and shrug.

Although I enjoy the warm feeling inside every-time I hear the achievement sound, I don't actively seek them.

I've been an achievement whore. But when I was seriously deciding on whether to get crappy games for the achievements I decided to stop buying Xbox games unless they were actually good. I still go for achievements, but I try not to let it decide what I buy.

I make a mental note of all the achievements I can get in one playthrough, then play on the generic "Complete Hard Mode" Trophy/Achievement

i myself am admittedly an "achievement whore," after i complete a game i shoot for achievements at any chance i get. i know some people who just play the game and if they get an achievement then thats that, then i know some people who stress over getting the achievments after they complete it (me being one of them)

who out there is an "achievement whore?"
You're not an achievement whore by my standards. You play the game first and try to go for 100% everyone does that. Hell I do that, can't help it if a lot of the achievements are for finishing chapters :/

To me an achievement whore buys the game BECAUSE of the achievements within and once he gets all the achievements he stops playing the game, not paying attention to story and clearly showing no interest (like games like Viva Pinata).

If your thread is going to be a yes or no question, then why not include a poll?

On a first playthrough I rarely look at the achievements - I just enjoy the game - on my second playthrough I will usually try to get as many achievements as possible, but I'm no fanatic - I don't have the patience to get 1000 in many games, so as long as I have around 400 I'm usually pleased.

My Name Is Angus Young and I have a problem. I'm obsessed with the sound you hear on 360 when you get an achievement. Somtimes I hear it when I'm just watching TV
