so the hard difficulty gives you 1 gamerscore?
if it truly does i apologize haha
That wasn't a typo, the only achievement I'm missing for that game is "HELL Difficulty Mode Cleared" worth 1 GS.

True, but to be honest, I don't think they're ment for a first play through.

Achievements are mostly there to give yuo something to work to, other than the storyline. So after you did the story, you can do achievements.

At least that's the way I see it, and do it. I think that's pretty normal...
You're wrong. Well, it's a stupid way of saying it, but most achievements are gotten the first time you play. Hell, you could get all of Oblivion's achievements the first time you play the game. Most games have ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: FINISHED THE LEVEL and weapon/ability based achievements that are at least half of all possible achievements.

On-Topic: I have 100% of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts achievements 820/1000.(fuck online requirements) All 50 achievements were gained in my first playthrough.
But I don't care about achievements, I have about 5000 out of a possible 30k points.

I think they should patch Live so that the Avatar game gives you -1000 points. (For a start it's a terrible game and an insult to the franchise /grump)

I think the best games balance their achievements so that you get about half of them if you play through the campaign normally, and have to try for the other half. If you give people a taste, they'll come back for more.

They're nice but I don't really pay them much attention. I tend to just play the game the same way as if there were no achievements, which gets me around 25% - 50% of them and that's fine with me.

Same here. Besides, its even nicer when you get them by surprise.

I don't mind achievements but I dislike the idea of gamerscore. The numerical value is so often completely arbitrary and meaningless, I'd much rather just have a checklist of 'stuff to do'. Which, I guess, is my Xbox-fanboy way of grudgingly admitting that I'd prefer the PS3 trophy system. Even that has flaws, with the bronze/silver/gold mechanism giving more weight to some things than others, but it's better than giving an arbitrary score to things.

That said... I have 100% completion on three games. 1000 on Assassin's Creed 2 (my favourite game of 2009), 1000 on CSI: Hard Evidence (sometimes seen as an easy boosting game, but I'm just a big CSI fan) and 1250 on Oblivion (one of my top 5 games ever).

I've got 1400/1500 on Skate 2, but I'll never get the remaining points because it's online stuff and I really have no desire to grind away at it when I consistently get matched up with glitchers and idiots. 1550 on Fallout 3 will happen at some point, that is of course assuming I can be arsed to get creative with save games to get the 'reach level 14/20/30 with good/bad/neutral karma' things, on both 360 and PC - I'm hovering somewhere around 1250 on the 360 version and about 300 on the PC version.

Right now I'm working on getting all of them for Dragon Age and Mass Effect 1&2, I have at least 2 more games of DA:O left and 2 of ME 1, and one left for ME 2, it's going to take a long time to get them all.

Batman: Arkham Asylum would be the only title I have all points it, it was truly fun getting them all.

I didn't have to force myself to play more just for them.

i love getting achievements but I think the best way to get them is to run the story first. Thats why when I start playing a new game I always try it on the hardest difficulty first which I never did before achievements came out.

I don't have 100% for anything. It's more like around 60% except for games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, which I've just replayed a lot and happened to get more than the usual amount.

The only 360 game I have 1000GS in is Modern Warfare 2. Although I do have a few platinums. If I recall those games were Fallout 3, Borderlands and Modern Warfare 2. I enjoy getting achievements but I generally don't get 100% in most of my games.

I don't have an Xbox, but I could answer your question PS3 wise, since trophies are simliar.

I enjoy getting them, I view them as a fun little pass time towards the game.

So far I have 5 plantiums.

The games are.

1. Wanted weapons of fate.

2. Sega Mega drive collection.

3. Terminator salvation. (My friend brought this down to my house, we started a game of co-op hard mode and in 5 hours we were done.

4. My latest plantium, was for God of War 3. Titan mode was quite tough.

5. Dantes inferno.

Currently I'm working on Dead Space.

To the first post: yeah, there are games with stupid "congratulations, you finished level 1!" achievements, but those are usually not games you play more than once...

As Flour posted, you should get some in a play, but achievements are supposed to be awarded for an achievement, you know, something hard. Well, off course anyone can get them, but still, if an achievement is given for bludgeoning someone with a melee weapon, and an achievement for every different meleeweapon(Saw), the game should take a look at it's achievements. Take a game like Team Fortress, that one may even have too many!(and a lot f them are too hard)

Anyway, there's always going to be some easy ones, but a good game uses achievements to give you a good reason to play a game twice.

I have all achievements for Call of Duty 4, Oblivion and 1 vs 100, and I'm aiming to get all achievements for Modern Warfare 2 and Dragon Age Origins. Apart from that I don't care for them at the moment.

Unless you're to much of a nancy to play on Insanity, I don't see how you could beat ME2 twice and not get all the achiev...

I love getting achievements, but at the same time, hate getting them. They're such an immersion breaker.
I totally agree. I've realized how much I hate playing games overall since I started whoring achievements. =(
