That's such a dick move to buy out a studio and then shut it down a couple years later. That's capitalism for ya tho.

P.S. I was hoping it was IW (I can dream, cant I?)

Oh, and Lucasarts seem to have milked Star Wars dry.
Nah, I think it's a case of LucasArts are making the wrong games. I'd love to see another Battlefront title, and there's a lot of people wishing they'd have done KotOR3 instead of TOR.

As for this story, I think it's a dick move by Activision (Not that they make any other kind of move) and I seriously hope that they get their act together and stop being so damn tyrannical. Activision need to stop milking franchises so much, but they also need to put IPs out there that are worth getting. They're riding on Blizzard, and I don't think that's right for Blizz.

I think kotick is actualy trying to be the biggest IRL Troll in the world.
BREAKING NEWS
Bobby Kotick has recently invested in a new project that is designed to create a perpetual motion machine. Picture Below:

To me this is the problem when a studio owns the developers.

Instead it should be that the studios fund the developers, and the developers die if they cant produce good games.

Honestly though, there are way to many studios making way to many crappy games...

I hope these people the best in finding a new job. Not a particularly nice way to be told you are fired.

I hope everyone who bought Black Ops and Modern WArfare 2 feels bad. They gave Kotick all the money he needed to fire these people.

Yes. YOU are the reason he did this. So feel happy you helped in his bidding.

The only dick move that Activision did here was not informin them correctly before firin. As with the other news story earlier the closin of the studio (well...they're explorin options with the other but whatever) the entire event is justified from a business standpoint. Both studios arent makin nearly enough profit to justify your existence than of course you're goin to get shutdown. All you people whinin and moanin about how Kotick only looks at the bottom line need to realize thats his damn job. If you were in his position and you did stuff your way you'd be fired by your board of directors or by your investors so quick that you wouldnt even have time to finish the sentence "So I know that X company barely broke even last year, but hey...their games were good!"

Its gettin really really old watchin everyone come into anythin involvin kotick and activision and everyone kneejerkin their foot into their mouth. Use some common sense here people.

Just remember kiddies, if you work for a "public" company then you to can be randomly fired if your job isn't "aligned against our slate and strategic goals" whatever that means.

If you can avoid it at all possible, don't work for any company that is listed on a stock market. The whole absentee owner stockholder situation is a fundamentally corrupt and broken system.

It sounds horrible but you gotta do what needs to be done. If a studio's not producing than *chop*. This is what competitive, successful businesses do.

Conclusion: Kotick is a dick. I don't see how anyone can even defend that man now.
I can do it:

Bizzare and Budcat made shitty games. That's why they were fired.
No. Bizzare didn't make shitty games. It made games that didn't sell well.
Because they were shitty. They only made a moderately fun racing game (PGR) and an ok flash game (Geometry Wars). Blur sold poorly not because the audience wasn't ready, but because it was a bad game that was outdone by its opponents.
