Wow.

I mean seriously, wow. What a dick move.

With all the hate going on, all in all Call of Duty was a great franchise, and now they're just giving it up to someone else?

Fuck you Bobby Kotick, rot in hell you cheap bastard. And take your plastic guitar with you.

Was this not rumoured aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssss ago though.....wait a sec....(trawls through search engine)....yup....on this very site...

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97305-Infinity-Ward-Not-Making-Modern-Warfare-3

So old news masquerading as new news so Activison Morningstar doesn't have to issue a proper press release on the issue?

Still, leaves you kinda cold when such a successful (and much loved) dev is given the run around by their publisher to such an extreme extent...
No proper press release? What do you call this then [http://investor.activision.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=448656]?
Sorry Senor Funk, I didn't mean they didn't put out a proper press release, I meant it didn't address what is going on over at Infinity Ward right now. It seems like something that was probably going to happen anyway, and they just threw out official confirmation now to make it seem like it was related to the odd occurrences of the past few days.

I don't understand why activision is doing this? Is it for Money? Power? Rights? Whatever I can't help but feel like the gamers and COD supporters are getting the shaft on this one. MW2 even with my complaining about the hackers, mods and unfair weapons is very fun for me and I play it all the time and I hate to see the fact that it's going the direction is going...

But one very sad thought comes to mind...with all of this drama does that mean the DLC for MW2 will never come out or will be half-a$$ed?

With all of this news and the fear over the future of the DLC I can only muster one reaction...

They won't. If Activision try it, they'll fail.

Even the people I know who only play CoD will not pay for it monthly.
Oh rlly? X-box live says Hi.
slightly different though cuz u pay to play all the xbox games online not just one, plus the bunch of other stuff u get with it like party chat.

i don't think an FPS has enough in it to be worth paying monthly. The level system that cod has might be enough for a few people but its designed in such a way that a level 1 can compete with a level 50, which is good, but it means that leveling up doesn't make much difference to gameplay which is the draw of traditional MMOs

I'm calling a ban on any CoD title made by Sledgehammer.

If you need you're fix, it's ok to buy a treyarch game, Vietnam sounds great.

As for MW3, it can only be properly made by Ifinity Ward.

I'm willing to wait and see what details surface before totally vilifying Acitivision. There may be a totally reasonable explanation for this. \

Maybe.

It's possible.

Hold on. So MW2 is the last COD game to be developed by Infinity Ward? Ever? How can Activision do that? They made the fucking franchise to begin with!

Best of luck to Infinity Ward, whatever they do next.
you're familiar with original CoD and CoD2
and your sad to see IW leave it now?
really?
after how badly they fucked up here?
MW2 is a MW too many.
IW got far too cocky.

It's irrelevant anyway, two years from now we'll still all be playing BF2 and Counter Strike anyway...

Maybe the Deadspace guys can make some real bloody ugly warfare. Not just falling over and disappearing after being shot. Like guys crawling around with their legs blown off or futilely trying to put their intestines back in after getting gutted by a grenade.
That's nice :D

OT:

Infinity Ward made a deal with the devil, and now it's come back to bite them on the ass.

Knowing big publishers, you can be sure the IW staff got a miniscule cut of royalties from MW2 while the fat sleazy fucks at Activision slurped caviar down thier ugly necks.

Wait, wait, how did royalties/end year bonuses work for MW1?

Edit: Proctor and Gamble? Nestle? I read in an old gam mag about clueless suits who used to be higher ups in the food/consumable goods industry having NO CLUE whatsoever about game development making fantastically stupid decisions, like deciding that a pet sim for the GBA should be completely remade into a platformer, WEEKS before release.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but, at least according to these links, it's not the end of the CoD games produced by Infinity Ward.

I can imagine IW's response: I'm gonna rip out your eyeballs and piss in your dead skull. You fucked with the wrong marine!

Doesn't matter to me. I've already set it in my mind to never buy another Activision game again.

This has been one heck of a week for COD fans, I bet most of them will probably join a Facebook group (like mine) in protest.

Basically, you fuck with Kotick and he'll fire your ass and give what is possibly your life's greatest achievement to someone else.

Don't fuck with the Kotick.
