Most people commenting on the "inexpensive" cost of a PS3 also then comment on the fact that they own multiple systems. This proves the point. Whilst it may be able for certain people with enough money to afford multiple systems, the only thing this really damages is those people who own one. If Activision pulls out on Sony then essentially all the lil' kids who wanna shoot people on CoD6 or w.e are unable to do so hurting Sony's sales. Not only does it hurt Sony it also boosts profits for MS and Nintendo as people who yet to purchase a system would purchase the cheaper one that supports the games they want. Point being, pulled support from a major profit source of anykind for a company is never good. If Sony wants to compete seriously for the people on the fences then they do need to lower their prices. Until then (and even after or if they don't all together) I'll continue using a PC to game because I can make money from work on here too, instead of just blowing it on something that forces me to buy entertainment which is another thing I don't want to go into right now.
Peace out.

You missed the point entirely, and no it's not.

It has nothing to do with liking a game or not. To assume that a fan of CoD will go out and buy a 360 because the next CoD will be on it is just as absurd to assume that they'll go out an buy a Wii because it will be there as well.

The point is, Activision isn't stupid enough to hand EA their PS3 market share. Stopping development on the PS3 would do just that. EA would take that market share and develop specifically for it.

It's like this:

People who have bought Guitar Hero own the peripherals. If Guitar Hero was no longer available on PS3, they'll move to the product that is most like it: Rock Band. The net result is EA making more money than them while they make less.

People who have bought Tony Hawk may own the peripheral (depends on if it's required). If Tony Hawk was no longer available on PS3, they'll move to the product that is most like it: Skate. The net result is EA making more money than them while they make less.

The only real thing Activision has over EA is an established and well known FPS franchise. And, in that case, you might have some people buy another system so they can play it. But, chances are, probably not. They'll move to a like product, such as Resistance or Killzone.

There's no betting being done. It's just common sense.

Further, other developers will just step up to fill Activisions shoes. Specifically companies like EA and Ubisoft, one of which has shown great interest in the PS3 as of late.

As stated, Activision isn't stupid enough to hand another company their money.

Oh no! We'll lose great classics like.. Uhh.. Call of Duty WAW and COD 3.
Seriously, Activision has the Guitar Hero francise, but thats about it.
Not to mention their Call of Duty's are much more mediocre compared to Infinity Ward, and World at War has proven this.
infinity ward is part of activision.

Actually, people base their console decisions on EXACTLY that.
Sure, for someone who already OWNS a ps3, the likelihood of them running out to get an xbox may be small... but it depends on the person. If you own a ps3 and all your friends are having a blast getting together and playing COD6 multiplayer every day after work/school, chances are, you might be tempted to get your hands on an xbox sometime soon to join in the fun. Now add SEVERAL games to that equation.. if your friends play COD6 AND Guitar Hero AND Tony Hawk, and it's all they talk about while their only other choice is to sit at home and play Rock Band with random people on the internet because nobody else has it, chances are it wont be long before they unload their PS3 and pick up an Xbox. This happens more often than you think, just ask anyone who ever worked in a game store.

But this isn't what Activision is banking on. What they are looking at is that segment of the population that is STILL trying to decide between an Xbox and a PS3 and own neither.
These consumers are EXACTLY what Activision is thinking about, and where their leverage is. If someone is trying to decide between a system, then what system COD6 or Guitar Hero is on absolutely DOES matter... the only time playing an "alternative" game in that genre matters is if you already HAVE that system, and then even then, it's still a good gamble on their part. Personally, if everyone I knew was playing Call of Duty on their playstation 3 and I knew from the past how good COD games are, then I'd be running out to get a Playstation 3 as the next thing on my 'to-own' list.

And if you don't think that a single game can sell a console, just ask all the people a year ago who were going to get a PS3 because it had "metal gear solid" on it.

Thats the thing about consumerism... people want what they want, and make their purchase decisions for often the most ridiculous reasons.
Sony needs to sell more consoles. COD6 becoming an Xbox exclusive would not at all aid that effort.

Hmm.. well it appears that I have been bested.
Thank you for letting me know that kind sir.
But I still blame Treyarch for making less than stellar COD titles.
