I also hear that the Space Pope is reptilian and bears do things in the woods.

That's a Hell of a lot of money though. You can just see Mr Kotick swimming around his pool of it now...

Are Activision getting TOO successful? Also, how is an anaylst getting paid to say that...

I... have no words. Of course they're going to make lots of money, they're one of the largest game publishers in existence.

However, Mr. Kotick is on a salary, albeit a large one, usually extra revenue has a lot of trickle down in bonuses.

-most- of that money will go into salaries and capital though, just like any other business. Which means fun stuff like bigger budgets and new IPs.

Sooner or later COD is going to just run dry. A new COD released every year is a horrible decision, and in a few years COD will end up like Guitar Hero.

Almost 5 BILLION dollars?!?!?
I would have guessed in the high hundreds of millions tops. Jeez, now we see where Kotick gets his incentive to be a dick.

No way, look at how good Tony Hawk did...oh wait. Yea Activision has the problem of pumping the market full of the "hot right now game" and it gets inflated and devalued. But whatever that's their MO, they make a ton of money so you can't really fault them. As a gamer tho I don't like it.

But seriously, Two of their games in the past two years racked in more than a billion dollars each.

Hopefully less than a few years...

I think that a lot of the recent success is people like myself have only recently been introduced to it. I got my PS3 Slim when they first were introduced, so before that I had never touched CoD. Basically, as console sales went up so did CoD sales. MW2 I enjoyed, being my first entry to the franchise, but I wholly regret getting BOps as I never ever play it (played a couple rounds of zombies online). The franchise went stale after 1 game for me lol, and I can only hope others feel the same.

I mean, buy whatever you want, but it would be nice if gamers could be a little more discriminant with their cash.

The first COD that I got hooked to was W@W and that was fun. Since that, I've played every single COD game almost six hours everyday especially MW 2. But yeah, the way Activision is going, even the casual gamers will realise it's the exact same game every year and it's just being recoated.

Thanks for that link. Following that I discovered True Crime Hong Kong. Which looks awesome and I can't wait to play.

OT: I used to always thing Activision was heaps rich, but wow, that's quite a lot their going for.

Ah yes, I know Activision making money is about as shocking as the Pope being a Catholic. But it's pretty funny (re: annoying) how people get paid to 'predict' these things.
