I am buying this for the same reason someone buys a gold toilet.
for the fun of it?
Pretty much. So that when people come over, I can point to it and say "I own that thing."
So really for the same reason people buy GH? I don't know what sort of music you're into, but if you're into metal, presumably that was a draw as well? I didn't listen to much metal before, but now I do have to admit that a) the Dragonforce guitarist is epic and b) Cliffs of Dover is an amazing song. If people just give it a chance, I'm pretty sure they'd find tracks they like in much the same way.

The controler looks like the game will be boring.
I know there's only 3 buttons, but you also have to move the record forward and back (2 more buttons effectively), and there's a crossfader that can be left and right (2 more, effectively), so I'm guessing that with ~7, it will be like Guitar hero (5 and strums) in 'difficulty.'

But you do have a valid point.

Also, no, 80 dollars more for some plastic turning into metal...meh. No thanks.

i am still waiting for Activision to say "GOT YA!! HAHAHA!" but the longer they stretch it the less fun i becomes, its beginning to just get worrying.

but pure hypothetical scenario where this isn't a joke whit a lack of a punchline ; only 3 buttons? we are moving closer and closer to the iGame where you only have to press one button every second or so on a console whit no games (but its really good for the artistic types).

I was really excited about this game, and I was even thinking about putting aside the money for the special edition (I refuse to call it by its proper name. Renegade Edition? What social rules moors and taboos is this edition violating?) because of the shininess that's reminiscent of those limited ed. SL1200s from before I had enough money to get my own GI Joes. But after seeing the artists in the game, and seeing the two artists included with the special ed., I've been cooled slightly on this game. Throw in some real electronica artists and I'll be all over the game like stink on a monkey again, but for now...meh.

Renegade was a track by Jay-Z on The Blueprint, produced by Eminem, so that would make sense.

Why... Why am I so strangely drawn to it! Maybe it's my affection for mixing rap and rock together, or my eternal love for all music...except those played in an elevator.

But, with the likely pricetag being $200, there's no way I'll ever be able to afford it. I don't even have a current-gen console, since I gave my Nintendo Wii to my family when I moved...

A million quid to the first man how can find the point!
It'll sell copies and thus make Activision more money.

I'll take my million quid now, thanks. Feel free to e-mail me for my address so you know where to drop off my giant novelty cheque.
Blast! Foiled again! ><

I just hope your bank has a big cheque department.

Apparently I'm the only person in the world who thinks DJ Hero looks kinda neat.

Why is it called "Renegade" Edition? What are you some sort of renegade DJ going agaisnt the DJ establishment? But seriously, Gituar Hero was fun because you can play with mates like in a band, but DJ's asalitary creatures so I'm guessing it single-player. Also, its got music by Eminem and Jay-Z, I would so fork over £120 to pretend to be a deuch.

Sorry, but I feel these types of games only work for music made in bands.
Renegade was a track by Jay-Z on The Blueprint, produced by Eminem, so that would make sense.

As for "ZOMG it's single player"... Remember back when Guitar Hero first surfaced? Single player game. Unless you bought another guitar (read- turntable), in which case you could play against a friend. GH wasn't a "band" game until Rock Band came out, and they decided they needed to step up a level to compete with them.

"It's got Eminem and Jay-Z, so I'd fork over £120 to pretend to be a deuch"

... Assuming you mean douche, I fail to see how music by a pair of rappers has anything to do with a game about DJ's. The whole thing about "it only has 3 buttons" is flawed as well, you've got the 3 buttons, then you've got the forward/backward movement on the record, as well as the two sliders (which presumably is to go between the records?).

Personally I'm looking forward to it. I'm tempted to get myself a console, just so I can play it. It does, however, show me that there are a lot of close-minded people on here when it comes to music. Not all rap is guns, bitches and bling, in the same way that not all metal is distortion and screaming.

This may just be my ignorance regarding mixing/DJing, but is there any realism to this? To me it doesn't seem like 3 buttons on the table have a realistic analog. I
It bares no more realism than Guitar Hero does, if that's what you mean?
I'm impressed. I agree on the close-mindedness of people on this site when it comes to music, but there are more open minded people than I imagined. Nice.

It's gonna happen... People are too hyped up at seeing the topic title and rushing in here to declare that they don't want to listen to people chatting on beats about their "nine's", so go skidding past what's already been said on the topic. Now, the only question is which of the four consoles to get... (unless someone knows of a way to play it on PC? Send your answers on a stamped addressed PM to: Wordsmith, Office of the Lyricist, PO Box 9882)

I'm sick to death of overpriced special editions. Are they making the less expensive version MORE shitty just so they can raise the price on the other one? Provided the controller on the $120 version is solid enough that it isn't going to break the first hour of play, I'll be getting it. But thats a big NO on the Renegade Edition.

While I'm not interested in this game in the slightest (or Jay-Z/Eminem CDs) I'd have to say if I was going to pick it up I'd rather spend some extra cash to get a better-quality controller which this may be what with the metal knobs and such. I know I constantly feel I'm going to break my GH Les Paul and would rather something more sturdy-feeling. The case looks kinda cool, too, and at least it's something to keep the dust off the controller though I don't see Sheppard Fairy's artistic influence on the case at all; it's just black with the game's logo.
