Birds fly, grass grows, and Activision releases a new Call of Duty game on a yearly basis.

Was there ANY doubt that Modern Warfare 3 would be announced?

Anyone watched the latest CheckPoint? Graham makes excellent points.

"You're telling me that there's going to be a third Modern Warfare game? Stop the goddamn presses, I am agog with shock."

Okay, I've been out of the gaming news loop for a little while, so I'm a bit confused. Didn't Infinity Ward leave Activision for EA? And isn't there multiple lawsuits still ongoing between them over the IP? How are they making this game together? Did I miss something?
1)IW dev team lost is major lead devoplers plus 22 guys
2)IW is still with activision(sadly) it was those 22 Plus 2 other guys(feel free to let me know) who went and fromed respawn to work for EA
3) Yes about 3 i (think)
4) Yup you did

it weird hows this doesn't qualify as news in the mainstream media

I didn't want to buy this game, but then I bought Crysis 2, and that terrible mess of a PC multiplayer game has made a new CoD very welcome

I've never really understood why it's considered a secret that they're making sequels to these games. Was anyone actually at all surprised that MW3 was coming?
I wasn;t really suprised at all since i know there will eventually be a Modern Warfare 4 and i will also not be buying that either since i lost hope for Call of Duty all together.

I hope this is the last Infinity Ward COD-
I actually like them (Story wise) and the online isn't bad.

I hate the Treyarch titles.

If they go a new direction, I'll buy it, if not, I'll rent it just to see what happens, and then back to making my game.

Seriously, if there hadn't been a treyark fill in every other year, the COD titles would actually have some form of respect.

That's not what happened. Someone leaked a bunch of information to Kotaku, then Activision released the actual teaser trailers.

Hacking had nothing to do with it. It's suspect, sure, but it being a genuine leak isn't out of the realm of possibility.
Oh man, so this just about confirms that the campaign plot details leaked on Kotaku were accurate?
This game is going to be great! Not to buy, but to poke fun at! I think they need to spend more money on writers.... Honestly, the game is a parody of itself at this point.

"Here at Activision, we take additional hype and publicity very seriously."

I'd say the timing is more convenient than lucky.

All I really can think of right now is Yahtzee's running 'Oh no everyone can see my bum' gag.

I mean, really. How can you 'reveal' a game that already has fallen into a yearly release pattern and has been disclosed through court proceedings?

I saw the new trailer, and what i can say is: USA! USA! USA!
I don't know if I am right, but in the trailer, it appeared that Germany and France was being defended by USA troops, witch doesn't make much sense. That trailer is saying that Europe cant defend it self and needs American support.
If there would really be a Russian invasion, then America would have every troop on home soil, not scattered in Europe helping already powerful military nations. I know that USA is in NATO and would send some support, but as they are facing a full scale invasion, it would require every spare resource for it self.
I at least hope there would be a Russian campaign.

I doubt very highly that the leak was thought by Activision to affect our thinking of whether there was going to be another Modern Warfare or not. We KNOW there's going to be another one, we just don't know all the details yet. But what Activision is more concerned with is the timing. The financial high-guys over there are sitting in front of charts, maps, and demographics all telling them when the best time to release a gameplay trailer would be and when it will best affect our purchasing decisions to bring in more money. Nothing is done without a reason when big productions, (whether that means movies, games, cars, you name it) are about to be released. Activision is much less concerned about our knowledge of its revealment, and more worried about how and when it is revealed.

I've seen it myself and am quite pleased to see that (from what I can tell) they haven't diverted from their old formula. Call of Duty will always be just that, Call of Duty. It makes no apologies for what it is, whether people like it or not. That, I think, is its most respectable quality.

I can't seem to understand one thing though. Why does MW3 fall under the intellectual property category? Last I checked it was as intellectual as the stare my dog has after 1 hour of running around in the park.
